The Great Arabia Mountain Working began the season (March-November) for 2012 on April 29, 2012, with an episcopal consecration, a workshop on the "undocumented points chauds" discovered in the course of the Working, points Work, a healing circle. Congregational Illuminism continues to expand its free metaphysical Work, open to all through such gatherings, local bodies and our presence on Facebook Causes.

Congratulations to Tau Palamas upon his consecration on Arabia Mountain, during a gathering of free illuminists on 29 April 2012. Members of at least 3 Congregational Illuminist chartered local bdies were present for a healing circle, "undocumented points chauds" Workshop, points Working as well as the consecration of Tau Palamas by Tau Sir Hasirim, Tau Dositheos and Shin Sashia assisting.

Beloved Brothers and Sisters in the Light,

I would like to report on my experience on Arabia Mtn this past weekend. As all true initiations, it is still going on in terms of illumination, but I will go ahead and post what I'm feeling thus far.
Firstly, let me assure you that this report is delivered without the slightest amount of hubris as I have entered this stream somewhere around the student/probationer stage...I am a noobie. Be that as it may, since the consecration and points empowerments, I have experienced a compelling amount of clarity about things that ultimately are beyond me and my scope of study. I'm not sure if the ideas I am about to put forth have any far reaching significance, but in the least they are significant to me.

·   Our Consecration opens the priest/priestess to this system's holistic nature and frees us from piecemeal thinking. When the Consecration "takes", then the overarching sense received is akin to advaita--Free Illuminism takes shape as a whole.
·   The points chauds are sufficiently elastic to allow for individualized interpretation
·   The points chauds have a direct relationship to the Memphis+Misraim degrees on a deep level. The numbers, degree references, places on the body, etc, are not, therefore arbitrary--yet they are wide ranging and encompass mystery traditions of the East and the West
·   Each point has a word to be vibrated with it. Following the Western Mystery Traditional practice of always invoking the Highest first-- this will, in general, be the Sacred Word of the Degree. (Strongly vibrate the Sacred Word thrice while giving the point) This could be further extended to group work by having the group circle about the one receiving the point and vibrating in unison, possibly even using overtone chanting to call upon angelic harmonies. Additionally, the point can be re-activated later on away from the group by vibrating the SW in a self-initiatory way.
·   Each point/degree has a battery or series of knocks. These could be used in an invoking manner before the empowerment to summon the intelligence connected with the point. Reference the "Mass of the Phoenix" for an example of using the knocks with a bell or gong as on option.
·   The token or grip of the degree is the seal--the cork or stopper on the container of the body where the hot point is activated. This can be given directly after point is given as a formal closure to the activation.
·   The sign is used to "test the spirits" in scrying the point. For example, in the 59th* you, "place the open right hand below the eyes, thumb erect and forming a square on the temple" (Compleat Rite of Memphis, Greenfield, p120). When scrying the 59th point and you come across an entity, test the entity by giving the appropriate degree sign. If he is a trickster or astral baddie, he or it will dissolve when sign is given. Otherwise, it may give you a word, phrase or open a gate or door, etc.
·   The points may induce a sigil. For example, as I received the 97th, a clear image surfaced in my mind. Not sure if it is a collection of points that will cause this or if maybe each point has its own. Also they may be very individual and elastic. (See below image of the sigil)

Episcopal Consecration Homily

I am so overwhelmed and full of joy at this gathering. It is truly an auspicious event. This year marks the eleventh year of my formal involvement in the Western Mystery Tradition, beginning on the night of 9-11-01, when I became an Entered Apprentice Freemason the very same day that the Twin Towers fell in New York City. It was a night full of mystery and it was the culmination of much “head work” on my part—study and research, that lead me to the Temple of Masonry. Eleven is certainly an important number in the world of Magick. I recall that night very well. We were sitting in the Fellowship Hall finishing dinner before ascending the steps to the preparation room and Lodge room proper, when the Worshipful Master stood up and brought us all to attention with the clinging of his fork with his glass of sweet tea, saying, “Many of you called me today to ask if we would still meet tonight after the horrible events in our country today. My response to you then and to all of you present is that we most certainly will and more especially because of today’s events. We will join in Freedom and Solidarity to welcome a new brother into the Temple of Liberty.” And now, here we are meeting in Free Communion—eleven years after, continuing the search for Light and the work of Service to Others.

Often I am asked by friends what I’m currently working on, as I am usually involved in some study or practice that seems exotic to them. Once such friend, who is now an Episcopal Priest, Fr. Josh, would always ask questions that were leading towards, “…so what’s the point?” I call this approach, the “So What? Test.” There are many reasons and causes that have led me here today but I want to focus on one in particular that most fully expounds upon my answer to the “So What? Test”.

One day, my friend Mike caught me doing something odd with my fingertips at Gardunos restaurant in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This was around 15 years ago on a camping trip across America after graduating from college. He was use to my craziness and simply said, “Whatcha doing with your fingers there?” And so, I showed him—when you take your thumb and index finger and get them extremely close together, yet not quite touching, you can sense an electrical charge or pulse, like in Reiki. You can imagine how this Civil Engineer out of Ga. Tech responded to this, yet I was in earnest and steadfast in my conviction that there was something to it.

Several years later, after my Masonic endeavors began, I found myself blindfolded and on my knees at the home of Chic and Tabby Cicero! Have I piqued your imaginative curiosity yet? I was experiencing/receiving the Neophyte Grade of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. At the apogee, the zenith moment of that degree, where the officers are raising their vibratory rate to a fever pitch and the whole temple is about to burst into a spiritual orgasm of light, while the Hierophant brings down that light into the Aspirant’s sphere—I felt a surge that began as a hair standing tingle on the scalp and descended into a cascading current down my neck and spine that caused me to loose my balance a bit! Chic’s response to the description later on was a knowing smile.

A couple of years later, I was beginning a Graduate program @ Naropa University, a Buddhist College in Boulder CO. It was an intensive summer program in Contemplative Education that included meditation 2-3 times a day, yoga, tai chi and various Dharma Arts. This particular day, I was taking the introductory Qi Gong class from an elderly Mandarin gentleman who was reportedly one of the first to bring Tai Chi and Qi Gong to the United States. He was a lovely man, gentle and joyous to be around. After holding animal postures as long as possible we took a break and I approached him with a singular question—“Why are my feet on fire!” He smiled and put his arm around me, while I rubbed on my feet that genuinely felt hot. He gestured to the man next to me and said, “This man here has been in training with me for the past 8 years and has not felt this yet and here you get it in the 1st lesson!” He put me in a headlock and ruffled my hair continuing, “Oh, but don’t you get the big head about it, everyone has this—you just got lucky and were receptive today!” “What is it?” I asked incredulously. “Qi, Chi, Ruach, Spirit…whatever you need to call it”.

A few years later, back at the Ciceros, I was asking Chic for some personal instructions with the Middle Pillar exercise as I wasn’t really getting that much out of it outside of frightening my ex-wife with weird vibratory sounds. He suggested that the problem lie in my failure to strongly visualize the descent of light. So, a few weeks after this instruction I tried it again with his suggestions on a lonely stretch of beach in Florida that bordered a preserve. It was a full moon and I was completely alone. The practice clicked!. As I drew the light back up my spine, towards the end of the practice, aligning my breathing with my visualization until the light reached my head—suddenly the light burst from my crown into a shower of electricity and chills covering my body like a poncho. It brought tears to my eyes…they were healing tears. I was in a failed marriage and the light began the break out of it.

There are many other points in between where this has occurred as well, but these experiences have had their culmination more recently in a practice that my new wife and I have developed. Our love for each other is explosive and contagious. Once we got together my wife quickly identified two power spots on our property, one we call the vortex, where we place our hands—one up and one down over each others—within a circle, and charge each other up like the positive and negative poles of a battery. Then we bring that energy to a third party—a friend or someone in need who comes to visit us and let the energy flow to them. The results have ranged from absolute peace in one man who can be rather type A—he immediately went to the couch and silently slipped into a peaceful sleep—to streams of tears from a woman who has suffered through an abusive relationship. She fell to her knees and bathed in the light for quite a few moments.

And so this brings me to the “So What? Test”. What is all of this about? Is it simply to feel the heebie jeebies running up and down my spine? Is it only for self knowledge? Are all of these initiations and ordinations and today’s consecrations about fortifying the fortress of the Self? The answer is self-evident. This light—this creative, healing and consecrating reservoir of energy is meant to be given freely to others. Like the Paschal Candle at Easter that lights all of the other candles of the parishioners attending—the source of this light is not in the least bit diminished by the spreading and sharing of itself. So today I fully receive this Light and Consecration in Free Communion so that I may turn around and freely give it to others.

Points Chauds – A Free Illuminist Approach

On behalf of Ormus Lodge I was invited to speak about points chauds (hot points) at a recent session hosted by our friends at the Psychic Development Group which meet every Monday night in Atlanta, GA USA. The presentation was held on 16 January 2012 and ran just over two hours. What follows is a write up of the presentation based on the outline I prepared, my personal notes and my memory of the event. I want to take this opportunity to thank Karen for the invitation to come speak at her group, the participants for coming out and showing your support, and to Tau Lamed and Tau Kimberly Lynn for the valuable feedback each of you provided afterwards. I want to note that there are various ways and means for working with hot points. This is just one approach among many. I also want to note that while Ormus Lodge does incorporate some aspects of this practice that ultimately have their roots in Vodou, we do not make any claims to be practicing traditional Haitian Vodou. We respect all authentic African diasporic traditions. What we are engaged in is something quite different and should not be confused with something which it explicitly is not. Any errors regarding names, dates, historical references and other information contained herein are my own. Feel free to contact me with comments, questions, suggestions and/or feedback. If you have a sincere interest in this topic and want to connect up with a working group that explores this and other esoteric subjects you might consider affiliating with Ormus Lodge. Honoring Papa Legba

The session opened with sevis (service) in honor of Papa Legba who is, among other things, the lwa (mystery/spirit) guardian of gates and cross roads. It was in his role as gatekeeper that I chose to petition him to open the gate to facilitate communication with the spirit world. I set up a small altar for Met Legba which consisted of a clean white covering on top of which was placed the following items – three candles (white for his Rada aspect, red for his Petro aspect and a St. Lazarus candle which a participant brought as an offering), a bottle of Haitian rum (with a glass poured for him and spiced), offerings of food (roasted chicken, corn, bananas, etc.), a cup of coffee, flowers (a white rose and a red rose) and a bottle of Florida water that was dressed and dedicated to Legba by Mama Vescha which I purchased from her ahead of time. After setting up the altar and lighting the candles I opened with a doxology adapted from the Gloria Patri prayer which includes mention of the Father, Mother, Son, Daughter, Holy Spirit without and Holy Spirit within (in contrast to the orthodox version which only mentions Father, Son and Holy Spirit). I then signaled for the music to be played. The music consisted of two recorded tracks played on CD. The first track is titled “Legba” and is performed by Boukman Eksperyans on their album “Libeté (Pran Pou’l!)”. Unfortunately I have not been able to identify the original performers for the second track. The source is this song, found on YouTube.

I also arranged for a brother to play the drum to accompany the recorded music. Thank you Brother B. for doing this. While the music was playing I began to pray. I prayed to Bondye, I honored the Ancestors and I asked Papa Legba to open the gate and to bless us all for knowledge, wisdom and well being. I used a form of silent esoteric prayer where I speak directly and spontaneously from the heart. In total my prayers lasted just over 10 minutes (the length of the two songs together). At the conclusion of the prayers I paused for a few moments of silence and then proceeded to the talk proper.

Historical Background

Roots in Vodou

I will preface my talk this evening by stating that I am not an initiate of traditional Haitian Vodou. I have never been to Haiti, I have never received Kanzo in a traditional Haitian spiritual community, nor have I ever been mentored by an authentic Mambo or Houngan of Haitian Vodou. That said, I do have direct experience with various lwa dating back to just over a decade (more precisely, beginning in 1996, therefore about 16 years at the time of this writing). In short I did not seek out the Vodou, but rather the Vodou found me. I chose to respond and have never regretted this decision. I serve many lwa both in my private life as well as in community. Tonight’s topic of discussion is the points chauds. This is a French term which literally means “hot points”. In one form of Kreyol hot points are often called pwen cho. The translation to English is the same (i.e. “hot points”). For the sake of this presentation I will use these terms interchangeably (i.e. points chauds, pwen cho and hot points) and will also sometimes abbreviate this to either “points” or “pwen”. When I do so, it is to be understood that I mean hot points.

So to begin, hot points have their root in Vodou where they are often considered spirits in and of themselves. In some forms of traditional Vodou the pwen are not merely abstract. They are considered spirits – actual “intelligences” or “entities” if you will – that are often called upon for specific purposes. In this context a member of community may approach a Mambo or Houngan (or alternatively, a bokor) to address any number of personal/private concerns they might have (For example, relationship issues, financial issues, health issues, etc.). If the Mambo, Houngan or bokor is amicable to the request, he or she may sometimes decide to use a pwen cho. In these instances a pwen cho can typically be associated with some type of physical object. The object might be, for instance, a stone, jar, tree limb, bottle, etc. The Mambo/Houngan/bokor might magically link a particular spirit with the object and then give this object to their client along with specific instructions on how to use it to address their concerns. I have also discovered (via dialog with an actual Houngan and again with an actual Mambo) that there is a distinction made between what are sometimes referred to as “purchased pwen” and pwen cho proper. From what I have gathered, the description I give above is more closely associated with purchased pwen. I have not been given any information as to what pwen cho are in Haitian Vodou outside of this context besides it being hinted at to me that they do exist so any comments I could offer in this regard would be pure speculation. I therefore refrain from doing so. I realize the above description is a gross generalization, but for the sake of this dialog it does serve to give at least some context of the roots of pwen cho being based in traditional Vodou which will be helpful for us when we contrast this with the Free Illuminist approach I am personally involved in and which I will give a demonstration of later tonight. The first thing to note is that within the approach taken by Ormus Lodge, which itself is derived from the Work of Docteur +Michael Bertiaux through the adaptations of such developed by T Allen Greenfield (and others involved in the “Great Arabia Mountain Working”), the “object” which is magically linked to the hot points is, in fact, our own bodies (both physical and energetic). This is a radical departure from my understanding (admittedly limited) of pwen cho in the context of traditional African diasporic traditions and therefore proceeds along a very different path while still maintaining a link back to the root. More on this later (see quote from +Bertiaux below).

Docteur Michael Bertiaux (1935 – present)

Docteur Michael Bertiaux is a well known name within the esoteric world of modern occultism. Some love him, some despise him, some think he is a genius, some think he is a lunatic, yet beyond dispute he has certainly made a lasting imprint on contemporary esoteric studies through the various organizations he has been a part of as well as the public and private works he has contributed to the esoteric community at large. Great people often provoke controversy by the very nature of their greatness. Docteur Bertiaux is no exception to this rule. Here I will highlight some events that relate – in one form or another – to our present topic. In 1963 (possibly 1964?) Docteur Bertiaux traveled to Haiti as an Anglican missionary. While there he made the acquaintance of a man by the name of Hector Francois Jean-Maine (1925 – ?) who was himself the son of Lucien Francois Jean-Maine (1869 – 1960). The latter (Lucien Francois Jean-Maine) was a Haitian born Vodou priest (Houngan), Martinist, Elus Cohen and Gnostic Bishop. He was also the founder of the Ordo Templi Orientis Antiqua (OTOA – The Ancient Order of the Templars of the East) and La Couleuvre Noire (LCN – The Black Snake Cultus). His son, Hector Francois Jean-Maine, who followed in his father’s footsteps, was to become Docteur Bertiaux’s primary teacher.

Docteur Bertiaux returns to the United States. At some point along the way he receives initiation into the Monastery of the Seven Rays (M7R) as well as the aforementioned OTOA and LCN. He is also involved for a time with the Theosophical Society, the Spiritist movement of Allan Kardec, Martinism and is consecrated a bishop of Apostolic and Gnostic lineage. In 1988 he publishes “The Voudon Gnostic Workbook” (VGW) and thereby goes public with some of his teachings (others yet remain within the confines of the magical groups he has inherited and/or founded). The Expanded Edition of the VGW was released in 2007 and is currently still in print. The VGW is an immense work, definitely not an “easy read” in any sense of this phrase, yet it contains a vast array of esoteric insight, techniques, gnosis and occult instruction. VGW is extremely syncretic in nature, blending such diverse subjects as Vodou, Hoodoo, Gnosticism, Shinto, Bon, UFOlogy, Episcopi Vagantes (i.e. Wandering Bishops), Sex Magic, Memphis-Misraim Rite and Lovecraftian lore (among others). And while some may perceive this to be a sort of mishmash or hodgepodge of unrelated ideas and traditions, if one were to read the VGW in full with careful and persistent attention, one would likely find that Docteur Bertiaux masterfully lays out an entire magical universe that is both self-consistent and uniquely his own. And if one were to meditate upon this even further, it is as if Docteur Bertiaux is telling us to do the same, that is, to fully grasp all of the systems we have been drawn to in our individual paths and to adapt them into a coherent whole, to make them our own, to create our own system, one that works for us, one that leads us towards the highest pinnacles of Illumination and beyond. Circling back to our topic of interest for tonight’s presentation, I want to read the following quote to show how one aspect of our present approach to the pwen cho has been directly influenced by Docteur Bertiaux:

This is the beginning of a series of 16 papers which will explore the occult centers of power which are the subject of the Grimoire Ghuedhe, Those who have come this far must realize that for every cosmological state or pattern there is a corresponding physical mystery or magickal sacrament and that each magickal mystery draws its power from the cosmic hierarchies or ideal being. Hence, we say that ideality and essence are the dominant qualities of the world of divine powers which are outside of man’s existence, while the mysteries of man’s existence are to be found in the magickal properties of his physical body. We learn about the cosmos from the study of man’s body, and we learn about the magickal history of our bodies from the study of cosmic mysteries and symbols, such as the theory of correspondences, which assigns powers and potencies to each part of the human body, which relate to cosmic laws and presences. While neither myself, nor (to my knowledge) any of the current members of Ormus Lodge have ever met Docteur Bertiaux in person, we unabashedly acknowledge a great debt to him for that which he has publicly shared in his published works as well as what we have learned directly through one of his students, T Allen Greenfield.

T Allen Greenfield (1946 – present)

Drilling down further into the interconnected web of influences that make up the “spiritual DNA” (if you will) of Ormus Lodge, we now arrive at my friend and brother of many years, T Allen Greenfield.

[Allen was present for the talk, so I requested he stand up to identify himself. He modestly obliged my request]

In 1986 Docteur Bertiaux consecrates Allen a Bishop in Apostolic and Gnostic Succession. I met Allen in the latter half of 1991 when I was pursuing study of Thelema through an organization known as the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), not to be confused with the OTOA mentioned above. I was involved with this Order for 11 years, deciding of my own accord to leave in 2002 after long deliberation which concluded with my honest feeling that I no longer felt in alignment with the direction the OTO was taking, nor did I any longer self identify as a Thelemite. Several years later, in 2006, Allen himself came to similar conclusions and made a split with OTO as well (unrelated and independent of my own departure). So at present neither of us are currently involved with that organization. Yet I acknowledge that it was in this context that I first met him and began to cultivate a friendship and magical partnership which lasts to this day. However, even back when we were both actively involved in OTO we also met outside of that context to explore other – unrelated - occult practices and techniques. Of special note were the meetings of the Hermetic Alchemical Order of the QBLH (aka the QBLH). The US branch of QBLH was headquartered at Lodge Babalon in the Chamblee/Doraville area of Georgia, USA in the mid 1990′s and Allen was living in the Lodge house at that time. I came to some of the meetings and forged close friendships with the now late Soror Ishtaria (who is gravely missed) and Soror Sekhmet (who I am still in regular contact with). Soror Ishtaria wrote a program called LEXICON that was created as a tool for “computer assisted gematria”. The primary focus of the program was English Qabalah (sometimes referred to as New Aeon English Qabalah or NAEQ and also called Cypher 6 due to the prominent cypher being the 6th iteration of the algorithm that the program generated). I view the QBLH, along with the Horus/Maat Lodge, as direct precursors to the non-hierarchical approach so favored by Free Illuminists worldwide. In any case, back in 1991, not long after first meeting Allen, he showed me a one or two page document that contained a simple set of correspondences. At that time, I believe, the correspondences consisted of 1) the 97 Degrees of Memphis (An Egyptian Rite influenced form of Masonry), 2) descriptions of certain regions on the body, 3) the Aires (Aethyrs) of John Dee’s Angelic Magic and 4) the “Terrestrial Locales” of John Dee (i.e. the Parts of Earth listed in Dee’s book – “Liber Scientiae Terrestris Auxilii & Victoria”). Allen mentioned that this was a set of correspondences he was exploring and that this derived from his work with Docteur Michael Bertiaux who he was in direct communication with at that time. I found the whole thing to be rather fascinating, but something told me to file it away in my mind as “not for now, but seek later”. I knew right away that this was going to be important for me, but I also knew that I had to wait before I could actively engage in this Work. I did not know for how long I must wait, or even why I should wait, but I knew for certain that wait…I must. I had other pursuits that took immediate precedence. In the meantime, Allen was in regular correspondence with Docteur Bertiaux and was working in close consultation with him.

In 1992 Docteur Bertiaux issues a charter to Allen which establishes the Sons (and Daughters) of Aaron Lodge. In 1993 Docteur Bertiaux consecrates Allen “sub conditione” to pass additional lines of ecclesiastical succession to him (having previously made him a bishop in 1986). Subsequent to these events, Allen begins to work with a few locals in Atlanta, offering points chauds empowerments as initially adapted from his consultations with Docteur Bertiaux. Things begin to go wrong – very wrong. Serious issues develop. Some of the participants become extremely unbalanced, one goes missing, one dies. Allen ceases any further exploration until such a time as he figures out why this is happening. He contacts Docteur Bertiaux and asks: “What am I doing wrong?”. Allen relates that Docteur Bertiaux replies: “You are doing nothing wrong.”, without any further elaboration. It takes Allen roughly 10 years to figure out what Docteur Bertiaux means. Allen ultimately proposes the theory that since he (Allen) was previously invested with the power of the Ancient Priesthood via his Episcopal consecration before receiving the hot points activations himself, and that he suffered no ill effects as did the local participants he was offering the points empowerments to, and that none of the participants themselves had previously received Episcopal consecration, that there must be something to the consecration itself which acts in a way to fortify and/or strengthen ones Body of Light (Energetic Body) thereby aiding one to contain the intense fiery energy of the hot points without suffering negative fallout or other serious consequences. Allen recommences the Work circa 2005 (or 2006?). He begins to consecrate all participants who pursue empowerments beyond just a small number of points. This is the beginning of the “Great Arabia Mountain Working” named for the location where these empowerments are often held. Mount Arabia is an ancient power-spot (400 million years old) located in Lithonia Georgia USA. Many of the local Free Illuminists consider Arabia as a sort of “holy land” and are grateful she has been preserved and not turned into a consumer site as has been the fate of her sister – Stone Mountain – located just a few miles away. We pray that Mt. Arabia will remain as it is, as it has been for millions of years, just simply herself with no man-made “attractions”, no laser shows, no concession stands, no carvings of Confederate “heroes” to scar her beautiful and raw landscape.

Ormus Lodge

I approached Allen in late 2006, expressing my interest in the Great Arabia Mountain Working which I had heard about though mutual contacts. At that time Allen gave me a series of four points empowerments during a single session while I was attending an unrelated event at a local community center that he happened to be present at as well. The points I received were 96 – titled the Grand and Puissant Sovereign of the Order (both of them, there are two which represent this single Degree), 4 – titled Secret Master, 5 – titled Perfect Master and 6 – titled Intimate Secretary. I worked with these empowerments for almost a full year. I feel this initial set of points empowerments aided me in gaining a more solid foundation – both in my “mundane” life as well as my spiritual life – from which I could then proceed towards full engagement in this Work. In fact, when I later discussed this with Allen after the fact he confirmed that this is exactly why he chose those particular points for me when I first approached him.

On 8 August 2007 I received ordination to Holy Orders as Subdeacon, Deacon, Exorcist and Priest from Bishop T Allen Greenfield at Consecration Rock, Mt. Arabia. I began to receive more points empowerments.

On 8 December 2007 I was granted a charter from T Allen to found a Philosophical and Research Lodge of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraim. This group was named Ormus Lodge and has been established as a vehicle through which its members explore various aspects that have branched off of our experiences with the Great Arabia Mountain Working, points chauds empowerments, “Gnostic Vodou” and other related esoteric subjects. On 22 March 2008 I received episcopal consecration through T Allen with Tau Naamah and Tau HRMAShT co-consecrating (again, at Consecration Rock, Mt. Arabia). It was not long before I received all of the 97 “known” points empowerments (via T Allen and Tau Naamah) over the course of several sessions including subsequent trips to Mt. Arabia and elsewhere. I have also received some of the “experimental” points empowerments (i.e. ones not listed in the reference document). I also began to give points empowerments to many others and in turn I have also consecrated 8 people to the bishopric (All of those whom I have consecrated I raised through subdeacon, deacon and priest/priestess, either on the spot or in graduated stages), have ordained a small number of exorcists and have co-consecrated many other bishops, both local and those traveling from afar. On 20 July 2008 I received consecration sub conditione from Bishop Thomas Dionysus Langley of the Alexandrian Gnostic Church with Bishops Tau Ishaviva and Tau Galahad co-consecrating.

[Author's Note: My ecclesiastical ordinations and consecrations ultimately led me to form (in 2009) a spiritual community called the Coptic Gnostic Church (CGC) which is itself ecclesiastical and sacramental in nature. While this is connected to the present topic in the sense that it was my priestly ordination (and the unexpected and lasting effect it had on me immediately thereafter) that acted as an impetus to form an Ecclesiastical Gnostic community, the CGC is otherwise unrelated to Ormus Lodge and stands or falls on its own. The two, while not at all in conflict with each other, serve entirely different purposes.]

Comments on preparation

With her permission, I would like to read a query Karen posted to the In Free Communion Working Group in which she asks:

“Are there any preparations that I need to do for myself in order to receive the Points Chauds empowerments?”

Hi Karen,
Good question. The answer, like many things related to Free Illuminism, is most likely going to be different for different people. Also note, I can only speak from my own experience and understandings, others here may have a different view altogether or perhaps something more to add. With that disclaimer, here is my take on this:
Typically my first response to people who approach me with an interest in receiving points chauds empowerments is…are you familiar with at least some of the background of this Work (in terms of its origins and current adaptations)? Is this something you think you might want to pursue long term? Not that the latter is a firm requirement, but I’ve learned it can be helpful for both the one who receives the empowerments as well as the one who is giving the empowerments to know where you stand from the outset. Is this just idle curiosity? Does it seem interesting because other people are doing it? I’m not saying any of these things are true for you personally as I honestly don’t know. I have had multiple experiences in the past where people are all fired up about receiving points and seeking ordinations/consecrations and then later they drop out of the picture – which in all honesty is fine with me as I would rather have someone be honest and say,”Well I tried this but it isn’t for me”. No harm, no foul. However, because I have experienced this a few times, I tend to ask folks now from the get-go…what is your interest?
Beyond that, the thing to consider is your own background in energetic work (Yoga, Magick, Martial Arts, etc). I know you are a medium and have worked with Caleb for some years in a Spiritualist type setting. I also believe you have some experience in Reiki (no?). The reason I ask about this is because points chauds are indeed “hot points” in the sense that they can trigger intense and/or “hot” energy levels which can subsequently trigger various physical/emotional/energetic reactions as one begins to integrate them. This is not always the case as one has to consider the specific points being received, the specific person receiving them and the specific person giving the empowerment IMHO. Also, things like the number of points received in one session can make a big difference.
Another thing to consider is if you do receive a few empowerments to begin with, integrate them well and want to continue, there are a few approaches as to how to proceed with relative safety. Allen’s default position (from what I know) is to consecrate people who take up the points work and receive more than just a few (there is no magick number here – again it can be different for different people). We have found through several years of experimentation that the egregor which is passed with episcopal consecration appears to “fortify” or “strengthen” ones “body of light” thereby enabling one to “contain” the hot points without negative fallout. And there is a history of negative fallout when this wasn’t being done. Since the change in methodology (knock on wood) no major episodes have occurred. Yet I want to point out that some may have an aversion to or simply no interest in receiving said consecration. Others may also view consecration in a more traditional sense and therefore, many other things would be associated with it (ideas of service, cultivating a spiritual community, ecclesiastical processes, etc). I fall into the latter category for the most part, but many Free Illuminists don’t (or do, but to a greater or lesser degree, etc). And yet the beauty is…there is room for all of us here.
Ormus Lodge has been working on an approach that will offer an alternative to episcopal consecration as preparation to receiving hot points beyond just a few. Not as a replacement, but as a complimentary alternative. Sothis Lodge (in NJ) is in the midst of a series of workings that is also being viewed (and correct me if I’m wrong here +Thomas) as a way to safely receive the points without involving episcopal consecration. So, there are options. In any case, it is my view that somebody can receive a few empowerments to “test the waters” and decide from there, especially so if they are already coming to this with some kind of background in energetic work. It is also my view that while it may be tempting to associate points chauds empowerments directly with other forms of energetic work (Chakras, Nadis, Acupuncture meridians, Reiki, etc), they are in fact different, not a one-to-one match. But it *helps* to have some kind of background in a related field.
I hope I have not muddied the waters further.
Perhaps some other folks will chime in as well.

Two signified they wanted to do so – Tau Kimberly Lynn (who had previously received empowerments last year) and Karen (who was receiving empowerments for the first time at this session). I intend on writing a second entry detailing these points empowerments from my perspective as well as soliciting reports and/or reflections from the two recipients if they are willing.

Beyond Vietnam

Mr. Chairman, ladies and gentlemen, I need not pause to say how very delighted I am to be here tonight, and how very delighted I am to see you expressing your concern about the issues that will be discussed tonight by turning out in such large numbers. I also want to say that I consider it a great honor to share this program with Dr. Bennett, Dr. Commager, and Rabbi Heschel, some of the distinguished leaders and personalities of our nation. And of course it's always good to come back to Riverside Church. Over the last eight years, I have had the privilege of preaching here almost every year in that period, and it is always a rich and rewarding experience to come to this great church and this great pulpit.

I come to this magnificent house of worship tonight because my conscience leaves me no other choice. I join you in this meeting because I am in deepest agreement with the aims and work of the organization which has brought us together, Clergy and Laymen Concerned About Vietnam. The recent statements of your executive committee are the sentiments of my own heart, and I found myself in full accord when I read its opening lines: "A time comes when silence is betrayal." That time has come for us in relation to Vietnam.

The truth of these words is beyond doubt, but the mission to which they call us is a most difficult one. Even when pressed by the demands of inner truth, men do not easily assume the task of opposing their government's policy, especially in time of war. Nor does the human spirit move without great difficulty against all the apathy of conformist thought within one's own bosom and in the surrounding world. Moreover, when the issues at hand seem as perplexing as they often do in the case of this dreadful conflict, we are always on the verge of being mesmerized by uncertainty. But we must move on.

Some of us who have already begun to break the silence of the night have found that the calling to speak is often a vocation of agony, but we must speak. We must speak with all the humility that is appropriate to our limited vision, but we must speak. And we must rejoice as well, for surely this is the first time in our nation's history that a significant number of its religious leaders have chosen to move beyond the prophesying of smooth patriotism to the high grounds of a firm dissent based upon the mandates of conscience and the reading of history. Perhaps a new spirit is rising among us. If it is, let us trace its movements, and pray that our own inner being may be sensitive to its guidance, for we are deeply in need of a new way beyond the darkness that seems so close around us.

Over the past two years, as I have moved to break the betrayal of my own silences and to speak from the burnings of my own heart, as I have called for radical departures from the destruction of Vietnam, many persons have questioned me about the wisdom of my path. At the heart of their concerns, this query has often loomed large and loud: "Why are you speaking about the war, Dr. King?" "Why are you joining the voices of dissent?" "Peace and civil rights don't mix," they say. "Aren't you hurting the cause of your people?" they ask. And when I hear them, though I often understand the source of their concern, I am nevertheless greatly saddened, for such questions mean that the inquirers have not really known me, my commitment, or my calling. Indeed, their questions suggest that they do not know the world in which they live. In the light of such tragic misunderstanding, I deem it of signal importance to try to state clearly, and I trust concisely, why I believe that the path from Dexter Avenue Baptist Church the church in Montgomery, Alabama, where I began my pastorate leads clearly to this sanctuary tonight.

I come to this platform tonight to make a passionate plea to my beloved nation. This speech is not addressed to Hanoi or to the National Liberation Front. It is not addressed to China or to Russia. Nor is it an attempt to overlook the ambiguity of the total situation and the need for a collective solution to the tragedy of Vietnam. Neither is it an attempt to make North Vietnam or the National Liberation Front paragons of virtue, nor to overlook the role they must play in the successful resolution of the problem. While they both may have justifiable reasons to be suspicious of the good faith of the United States, life and history give eloquent testimony to the fact that conflicts are never resolved without trustful give and take on both sides. Tonight, however, I wish not to speak with Hanoi and the National Liberation Front, but rather to my fellow Americans.

Since I am a preacher by calling, I suppose it is not surprising that I have seven major reasons for bringing Vietnam into the field of my moral vision. There is at the outset a very obvious and almost facile connection between the war in Vietnam and the struggle I and others have been waging in America. A few years ago there was a shining moment in that struggle. It seemed as if there was a real promise of hope for the poor, both black and white, through the poverty program. There were experiments, hopes, new beginnings. Then came the buildup in Vietnam, and I watched this program broken and eviscerated as if it were some idle political plaything of a society gone mad on war. And I knew that America would never invest the necessary funds or energies in rehabilitation of its poor so long as adventures like Vietnam continued to draw men and skills and money like some demonic, destructive suction tube. So I was increasingly compelled to see the war as an enemy of the poor and to attack it as such.

Perhaps a more tragic recognition of reality took place when it became clear to me that the war was doing far more than devastating the hopes of the poor at home. It was sending their sons and their brothers and their husbands to fight and to die in extraordinarily high proportions relative to the rest of the population. We were taking the black young men who had been crippled by our society and sending them eight thousand miles away to guarantee liberties in Southeast Asia which they had not found in southwest Georgia and East Harlem. So we have been repeatedly faced with the cruel irony of watching Negro and white boys on TV screens as they kill and die together for a nation that has been unable to seat them together in the same schools. So we watch them in brutal solidarity burning the huts of a poor village, but we realize that they would hardly live on the same block in Chicago. I could not be silent in the face of such cruel manipulation of the poor.

My third reason moves to an even deeper level of awareness, for it grows out of my experience in the ghettos of the North over the last three years, especially the last three summers. As I have walked among the desperate, rejected, and angry young men, I have told them that Molotov cocktails and rifles would not solve their problems. I have tried to offer them my deepest compassion while maintaining my conviction that social change comes most meaningfully through nonviolent action. But they asked, and rightly so, "What about Vietnam?" They asked if our own nation wasn?t using massive doses of violence to solve its problems, to bring about the changes it wanted. Their questions hit home, and I knew that I could never again raise my voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettos without having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today: my own government. For the sake of those boys, for the sake of this government, for the sake of the hundreds of thousands trembling under our violence, I cannot be silent.

For those who ask the question, "Aren?t you a civil rights leader?" and thereby mean to exclude me from the movement for peace, I have this further answer. In 1957, when a group of us formed the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, we chose as our motto: "To save the soul of America." We were convinced that we could not limit our vision to certain rights for black people, but instead affirmed the conviction that America would never be free or saved from itself until the descendants of its slaves were loosed completely from the shackles they still wear. In a way we were agreeing with Langston Hughes, that black bard of Harlem, who had written earlier:

O, yes, I say it plain,

America never was America to me,

And yet I swear this oath?

America will be!

Now, it should be incandescently clear that no one who has any concern for the integrity and life of America today can ignore the present war. If America's soul becomes totally poisoned, part of the autopsy must read "Vietnam." It can never be saved so long as it destroys the deepest hopes of men the world over. So it is that those of us who are yet determined that "America will be" are led down the path of protest and dissent, working for the health of our land.

As if the weight of such a commitment to the life and health of America were not enough, another burden of responsibility was placed upon me in 1964. And I cannot forget that the Nobel Peace Prize was also a commission, a commission to work harder than I had ever worked before for the brotherhood of man. This is a calling that takes me beyond national allegiances.

But even if it were not present, I would yet have to live with the meaning of my commitment to the ministry of Jesus Christ. To me, the relationship of this ministry to the making of peace is so obvious that I sometimes marvel at those who ask me why I am speaking against the war. Could it be that they do not know that the Good News was meant for all men for communist and capitalist, for their children and ours, for black and for white, for revolutionary and conservative? Have they forgotten that my ministry is in obedience to the one who loved His enemies so fully that He died for them? What then can I say to the Vietcong or to Castro or to Mao as a faithful minister of this one? Can I threaten them with death or must I not share with them my life?

Finally, as I try to explain for you and for myself the road that leads from Montgomery to this place, I would have offered all that was most valid if I simply said that I must be true to my conviction that I share with all men the calling to be a son of the living God. Beyond the calling of race or nation or creed is this vocation of sonship and brotherhood. Because I believe that the Father is deeply concerned especially for His suffering and helpless and outcast children, I come tonight to speak for them. This I believe to be the privilege and the burden of all of us who deem ourselves bound by allegiances and loyalties which are broader and deeper than nationalism and which go beyond our nation's self-defined goals and positions. We are called to speak for the weak, for the voiceless, for the victims of our nation, for those it calls "enemy," for no document from human hands can make these humans any less our brothers.

And as I ponder the madness of Vietnam and search within myself for ways to understand and respond in compassion, my mind goes constantly to the people of that peninsula. I speak now not of the soldiers of each side, not of the ideologies of the Liberation Front, not of the junta in Saigon, but simply of the people who have been living under the curse of war for almost three continuous decades now. I think of them, too, because it is clear to me that there will be no meaningful solution there until some attempt is made to know them and hear their broken cries.

They must see Americans as strange liberators. The Vietnamese people proclaimed their own independence in 1954, in 1945 rather, after a combined French and Japanese occupation and before the communist revolution in China. They were led by Ho Chi Minh. Even though they quoted the American Declaration of Independence in their own document of freedom, we refused to recognize them. Instead, we decided to support France in its reconquest of her former colony. Our government felt then that the Vietnamese people were not ready for independence, and we again fell victim to the deadly Western arrogance that has poisoned the international atmosphere for so long. With that tragic decision we rejected a revolutionary government seeking self-determination and a government that had been established not by China?for whom the Vietnamese have no great love?but by clearly indigenous forces that included some communists. For the peasants this new government meant real land reform, one of the most important needs in their lives.

For nine years following 1945 we denied the people of Vietnam the right of independence. For nine years we vigorously supported the French in their abortive effort to recolonize Vietnam. Before the end of the war we were meeting eighty percent of the French war costs. Even before the French were defeated at Dien Bien Phu, they began to despair of their reckless action, but we did not. We encouraged them with our huge financial and military supplies to continue the war even after they had lost the will. Soon we would be paying almost the full costs of this tragic attempt at recolonization.

After the French were defeated, it looked as if independence and land reform would come again through the Geneva Agreement. But instead there came the United States, determined that Ho should not unify the temporarily divided nation, and the peasants watched again as we supported one of the most vicious modern dictators, our chosen man, Premier Diem. The peasants watched and cringed as Diem ruthlessly rooted out all opposition, supported their extortionist landlords, and refused even to discuss reunification with the North. The peasants watched as all of this was presided over by United States influence and then by increasing numbers of United States troops who came to help quell the insurgency that Diem?s methods had aroused. When Diem was overthrown they may have been happy, but the long line of military dictators seemed to offer no real change, especially in terms of their need for land and peace.

The only change came from America as we increased our troop commitments in support of governments which were singularly corrupt, inept, and without popular support. All the while the people read our leaflets and received the regular promises of peace and democracy and land reform. Now they languish under our bombs and consider us, not their fellow Vietnamese, the real enemy. They move sadly and apathetically as we herd them off the land of their fathers into concentration camps where minimal social needs are rarely met. They know they must move on or be destroyed by our bombs.

So they go, primarily women and children and the aged. They watch as we poison their water, as we kill a million acres of their crops. They must weep as the bulldozers roar through their areas preparing to destroy the precious trees. They wander into the hospitals with at least twenty casualties from American firepower for one Vietcong-inflicted injury. So far we may have killed a million of them, mostly children. They wander into the towns and see thousands of the children, homeless, without clothes, running in packs on the streets like animals. They see the children degraded by our soldiers as they beg for food. They see the children selling their sisters to our soldiers, soliciting for their mothers.

What do the peasants think as we ally ourselves with the landlords and as we refuse to put any action into our many words concerning land reform? What do they think as we test out our latest weapons on them, just as the Germans tested out new medicine and new tortures in the concentration camps of Europe? Where are the roots of the independent Vietnam we claim to be building? Is it among these voiceless ones?

We have destroyed their two most cherished institutions: the family and the village. We have destroyed their land and their crops. We have cooperated in the crushing of the nation?s only non-communist revolutionary political force, the unified Buddhist Church. We have supported the enemies of the peasants of Saigon. We have corrupted their women and children and killed their men.

Now there is little left to build on, save bitterness. Soon the only solid physical foundations remaining will be found at our military bases and in the concrete of the concentration camps we call "fortified hamlets." The peasants may well wonder if we plan to build our new Vietnam on such grounds as these. Could we blame them for such thoughts? We must speak for them and raise the questions they cannot raise. These, too, are our brothers.

Perhaps a more difficult but no less necessary task is to speak for those who have been designated as our enemies. What of the National Liberation Front, that strangely anonymous group we call "VC" or "communists"? What must they think of the United States of America when they realize that we permitted the repression and cruelty of Diem, which helped to bring them into being as a resistance group in the South? What do they think of our condoning the violence which led to their own taking up of arms? How can they believe in our integrity when now we speak of "aggression from the North" as if there were nothing more essential to the war? How can they trust us when now we charge them with violence after the murderous reign of Diem and charge them with violence while we pour every new weapon of death into their land? Surely we must understand their feelings, even if we do not condone their actions. Surely we must see that the men we supported pressed them to their violence. Surely we must see that our own computerized plans of destruction simply dwarf their greatest acts.

How do they judge us when our officials know that their membership is less than twenty-five percent communist, and yet insist on giving them the blanket name? What must they be thinking when they know that we are aware of their control of major sections of Vietnam, and yet we appear ready to allow national elections in which this highly organized political parallel government will not have a part? They ask how we can speak of free elections when the Saigon press is censored and controlled by the military junta. And they are surely right to wonder what kind of new government we plan to help form without them, the only party in real touch with the peasants. They question our political goals and they deny the reality of a peace settlement from which they will be excluded. Their questions are frighteningly relevant. Is our nation planning to build on political myth again, and then shore it up upon the power of a new violence?

Here is the true meaning and value of compassion and nonviolence, when it helps us to see the enemy?s point of view, to hear his questions, to know his assessment of ourselves. For from his view we may indeed see the basic weaknesses of our own condition, and if we are mature, we may learn and grow and profit from the wisdom of the brothers who are called the opposition.

So, too, with Hanoi. In the North, where our bombs now pummel the land, and our mines endanger the waterways, we are met by a deep but understandable mistrust. To speak for them is to explain this lack of confidence in Western words, and especially their distrust of American intentions now. In Hanoi are the men who led the nation to independence against the Japanese and the French, the men who sought membership in the French Commonwealth and were betrayed by the weakness of Paris and the willfulness of the colonial armies. It was they who led a second struggle against French domination at tremendous costs, and then were persuaded to give up the land they controlled between the thirteenth and seventeenth parallel as a temporary measure at Geneva. After 1954, they watched us conspire with Diem to prevent elections which could have surely brought Ho Chi Minh to power over a united Vietnam, and they realized they had been betrayed again. When we ask why they do not leap to negotiate, these things must be remembered.

Also it must be clear that the leaders of Hanoi considered the presence of American troops in support of the Diem regime to have been the initial military breach of the Geneva Agreement concerning foreign troops, and they remind us that they did not begin to send troops in large numbers and even supplies into the South until American forces had moved into the tens of thousands.

Hanoi remembers how our leaders refused to tell us the truth about the earlier North Vietnamese overtures for peace, how the president claimed that none existed when they had clearly been made. Ho Chi Minh has watched as America has spoken of peace and built up its forces, and now he has surely heard the increasing international rumors of American plans for an invasion of the North. He knows the bombing and shelling and mining we are doing are part of traditional pre-invasion strategy. Perhaps only his sense of humor and of irony can save him when he hears the most powerful nation of the world speaking of aggression as it drops thousands of bombs on a poor, weak nation more than eight hundred, or rather, eight thousand miles away from its shores.

At this point I should make it clear that while I have tried in these last few minutes to give a voice to the voiceless in Vietnam and to understand the arguments of those who are called "enemy," I am as deeply concerned about our own troops there as anything else. For it occurs to me that what we are submitting them to in Vietnam is not simply the brutalizing process that goes on in any war where armies face each other and seek to destroy. We are adding cynicism to the process of death, for they must know after a short period there that none of the things we claim to be fighting for are really involved. Before long they must know that their government has sent them into a struggle among Vietnamese, and the more sophisticated surely realize that we are on the side of the wealthy, and the secure, while we create a hell for the poor.

Somehow this madness must cease. We must stop now. I speak as a child of God and brother to the suffering poor of Vietnam. I speak for those whose land is being laid waste, whose homes are being destroyed, whose culture is being subverted. I speak for the poor of America who are paying the double price of smashed hopes at home, and death and corruption in Vietnam. I speak as a citizen of the world, for the world as it stands aghast at the path we have taken. I speak as one who loves America, to the leaders of our own nation: The great initiative in this war is ours; the initiative to stop it must be ours.

This is the message of the great Buddhist leaders of Vietnam. Recently one of them wrote these words, and I quote:

Each day the war goes on the hatred increases in the hearts of the Vietnamese and in the hearts of those of humanitarian instinct. The Americans are forcing even their friends into becoming their enemies. It is curious that the Americans, who calculate so carefully on the possibilities of military victory, do not realize that in the process they are incurring deep psychological and political defeat. The image of America will never again be the image of revolution, freedom, and democracy, but the image of violence and militarism.

If we continue, there will be no doubt in my mind and in the mind of the world that we have no honorable intentions in Vietnam. If we do not stop our war against the people of Vietnam immediately, the world will be left with no other alternative than to see this as some horrible, clumsy, and deadly game we have decided to play. The world now demands a maturity of America that we may not be able to achieve. It demands that we admit that we have been wrong from the beginning of our adventure in Vietnam, that we have been detrimental to the life of the Vietnamese people. The situation is one in which we must be ready to turn sharply from our present ways. In order to atone for our sins and errors in Vietnam, we should take the initiative in bringing a halt to this tragic war.

I would like to suggest five concrete things that our government should do immediately to begin the long and difficult process of extricating ourselves from this nightmarish conflict:

Number one: End all bombing in North and South Vietnam.

Number two: Declare a unilateral cease-fire in the hope that such action will create the atmosphere for negotiation.

Three: Take immediate steps to prevent other battlegrounds in Southeast Asia by curtailing our military buildup in Thailand and our interference in Laos.

Four: Realistically accept the fact that the National Liberation Front has substantial support in South Vietnam and must thereby play a role in any meaningful negotiations and any future Vietnam government.

Five: Set a date that we will remove all foreign troops from Vietnam in accordance with the 1954 Geneva Agreement. [Sustained applause]

Part of our ongoing commitment might well express itself in an offer to grant asylum to any Vietnamese who fears for his life under a new regime which included the Liberation Front. Then we must make what reparations we can for the damage we have done. We must provide the medical aid that is badly needed, making it available in this country if necessary. [Applause] Meanwhile, we in the churches and synagogues have a continuing task while we urge our government to disengage itself from a disgraceful commitment. We must continue to raise our voices and our lives if our nation persists in its perverse ways in Vietnam. We must be prepared to match actions with words by seeking out every creative method of protest possible.

As we counsel young men concerning military service we must clarify for them our nation?s role in Vietnam and challenge them with the alternative of conscientious objection. [Sustained applause] I am pleased to say that this is a path now chosen by more than seventy students at my own alma mater, Morehouse College, and I recommend it to all who find the American course in Vietnam a dishonorable and unjust one. [Applause] Moreover, I would encourage all ministers of draft age to give up their ministerial exemptions and seek status as conscientious objectors. [Sustained applause] These are the times for real choices and not false ones. We are at the moment when our lives must be placed on the line if our nation is to survive its own folly. Every man of humane convictions must decide on the protest that best suits his convictions, but we must all protest.

Now there is something seductively tempting about stopping there and sending us all off on what in some circles has become a popular crusade against the war in Vietnam. I say we must enter that struggle, but I wish to go on now to say something even more disturbing.

The war in Vietnam is but a symptom of a far deeper malady within the American spirit, and if we ignore this sobering reality, [Applause] and if we ignore this sobering reality, we will find ourselves organizing "clergy and laymen concerned" committees for the next generation. They will be concerned about Guatemala and Peru. They will be concerned about Thailand and Cambodia. They will be concerned about Mozambique and South Africa. We will be marching for these and a dozen other names and attending rallies without end unless there is a significant and profound change in American life and policy. [Sustained applause] So such thoughts take us beyond Vietnam, but not beyond our calling as sons of the living God.

In 1957, a sensitive American official overseas said that it seemed to him that our nation was on the wrong side of a world revolution. During the past ten years we have seen emerge a pattern of suppression which has now justified the presence of U.S. military advisors in Venezuela. This need to maintain social stability for our investment accounts for the counter-revolutionary action of American forces in Guatemala. It tells why American helicopters are being used against guerrillas in Cambodia and why American napalm and Green Beret forces have already been active against rebels in Peru.

It is with such activity in mind that the words of the late John F. Kennedy come back to haunt us. Five years ago he said, "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." [Sustained applause] Increasingly, by choice or by accident, this is the role our nation has taken: the role of those who make peaceful revolution impossible by refusing to give up the privileges and the pleasures that come from the immense profits of overseas investments. I am convinced that if we are to get on the right side of the world revolution, we as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin [applause], we must rapidly begin the shift from a thing-oriented society to a person-oriented society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights, are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, extreme materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered.

A true revolution of values will soon cause us to question the fairness and justice of many of our past and present policies. On the one hand we are called to play the Good Samaritan on life?s roadside, but that will be only an initial act. One day we must come to see that the whole Jericho Road must be transformed so that men and women will not be constantly beaten and robbed as they make their journey on life?s highway. True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring. [Applause]

A true revolution of values will soon look uneasily on the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth. With righteous indignation, it will look across the seas and see individual capitalists of the West investing huge sums of money in Asia, Africa, and South America, only to take the profits out with no concern for the social betterment of the countries, and say: "This is not just." It will look at our alliance with the landed gentry of South America and say: "This is not just." The Western arrogance of feeling that it has everything to teach others and nothing to learn from them is not just.

A true revolution of values will lay hands on the world order and say of war: "This way of settling differences is not just." This business of burning human beings with napalm, of filling our nation?s homes with orphans and widows, of injecting poisonous drugs of hate into the veins of peoples normally humane, of sending men home from dark and bloody battlefields physically handicapped and psychologically deranged, cannot be reconciled with wisdom, justice, and love. A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death. [Sustained applause]

America, the richest and most powerful nation in the world, can well lead the way in this revolution of values. There is nothing except a tragic death wish to prevent us from reordering our priorities, so that the pursuit of peace will take precedence over the pursuit of war. There is nothing to keep us from molding a recalcitrant status quo with bruised hands until we have fashioned it into a brotherhood.

This kind of positive revolution of values is our best defense against communism. [Applause] War is not the answer. Communism will never be defeated by the use of atomic bombs or nuclear weapons. Let us not join those who shout war and, through their misguided passions, urge the United States to relinquish its participation in the United Nations. These are days which demand wise restraint and calm reasonableness. We must not engage in a negative anti-communism, but rather in a positive thrust for democracy, [Applause] realizing that our greatest defense against communism is to take offensive action in behalf of justice. We must with positive action seek to remove those conditions of poverty, insecurity, and injustice which are the fertile soil in which the seed of communism grows and develops.

These are revolutionary times. All over the globe men are revolting against old systems of exploitation and oppression, and out of the wounds of a frail world new systems of justice and equality are being born. The shirtless and barefoot people of the land are rising up as never before. The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. We in the West must support these revolutions.

It is a sad fact that because of comfort, complacency, a morbid fear of communism, and our proneness to adjust to injustice, the Western nations that initiated so much of the revolutionary spirit of the modern world have now become the arch anti-revolutionaries. This has driven many to feel that only Marxism has a revolutionary spirit. Therefore, communism is a judgement against our failure to make democracy real and follow through on the revolutions that we initiated. Our only hope today lies in our ability to recapture the revolutionary spirit and go out into a sometimes hostile world declaring eternal hostility to poverty, racism, and militarism. With this powerful commitment we shall boldly challenge the status quo and unjust mores, and thereby speed the day when "every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; [Audience:] (Yes) the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain."

A genuine revolution of values means in the final analysis that our loyalties must become ecumenical rather than sectional. Every nation must now develop an overriding loyalty to mankind as a whole in order to preserve the best in their individual societies.

This call for a worldwide fellowship that lifts neighborly concern beyond one?s tribe, race, class and nation is in reality a call for an all-embracing and unconditional love for all mankind. This oft misunderstood, this oft misinterpreted concept, so readily dismissed by the Nietzsches of the world as a weak and cowardly force, has now become an absolute necessity for the survival of man. When I speak of love I am not speaking of some sentimental and weak response. I?m not speaking of that force which is just emotional bosh. I am speaking of that force which all of the great religions have seen as the supreme unifying principle of life. Love is somehow the key that unlocks the door which leads to ultimate reality. This Hindu-Moslem-Christian-Jewish-Buddhist belief about ultimate reality is beautifully summed up in the first epistle of Saint John: "Let us love one another, (Yes) for love is God. (Yes) And every one that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God, for God is love." "If we love one another, God dwelleth in us and his love is perfected in us." Let us hope that this spirit will become the order of the day.

We can no longer afford to worship the god of hate or bow before the altar of retaliation. The oceans of history are made turbulent by the ever-rising tides of hate. History is cluttered with the wreckage of nations and individuals that pursued this self-defeating path of hate. As Arnold Toynbee says: "Love is the ultimate force that makes for the saving choice of life and good against the damning choice of death and evil. Therefore the first hope in our inventory must be the hope that love is going to have the last word."

We are now faced with the fact, my friends, that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is such a thing as being too late. Procrastination is still the thief of time. Life often leaves us standing bare, naked, and dejected with a lost opportunity. The tide in the affairs of men does not remain at flood?it ebbs. We may cry out desperately for time to pause in her passage, but time is adamant to every plea and rushes on. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words, "Too late." There is an invisible book of life that faithfully records our vigilance or our neglect. Omar Khayyam is right: "The moving finger writes, and having writ moves on."

We still have a choice today: nonviolent coexistence or violent co-annihilation. We must move past indecision to action. We must find new ways to speak for peace in Vietnam and justice throughout the developing world, a world that borders on our doors. If we do not act, we shall surely be dragged down the long, dark, and shameful corridors of time reserved for those who possess power without compassion, might without morality, and strength without sight.

Now let us begin. Now let us rededicate ourselves to the long and bitter, but beautiful, struggle for a new world. This is the calling of the sons of God, and our brothers wait eagerly for our response. Shall we say the odds are too great? Shall we tell them the struggle is too hard? Will our message be that the forces of American life militate against their arrival as full men, and we send our deepest regrets? Or will there be another message?of longing, of hope, of solidarity with their yearnings, of commitment to their cause, whatever the cost? The choice is ours, and though we might prefer it otherwise, we must choose in this crucial moment of human history.

As that noble bard of yesterday, James Russell Lowell, eloquently stated:

Once to every man and nation comes a moment to decide,

In the strife of Truth and Falsehood, for the good or evil side;

Some great cause, God?s new Messiah offering each the bloom or blight,

And the choice goes by forever ?twixt that darkness and that light.

Though the cause of evil prosper, yet ?tis truth alone is strong

Though her portions be the scaffold, and upon the throne be wrong

Yet that scaffold sways the future, and behind the dim unknown

Standeth God within the shadow, keeping watch above his own.

And if we will only make the right choice, we will be able to transform this pending cosmic elegy into a creative psalm of peace. If we will make the right choice, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our world into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. If we will but make the right choice, we will be able to speed up the day, all over America and all over the world, when justice will roll down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream.

It really doesn't matter what happens now. I left Atlanta this morning, and as we got started on the plane, there were six of us, the pilot said over the public address system, "We are sorry for the delay, but we have Dr. Martin Luther King on the plane. And to be sure that all of the bags were checked, and to be sure that nothing would be wrong with the plane, we had to check out everything carefully. And we've had the plane protected and guarded all night."

And then I got into Memphis. And some began to say that threats, or talk about the threats that were out. What would happen to me from some of our sick white brothers?

Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people will get to the promised land. And I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.

Report on Illumination Expo 2011

With comments about its origin

SPARKS OF LIGHT

The seed ideas for Illumination Expo date back to discussions that
were held between members of Ormus Lodge and the Constellation of
Abraxas three years ago (2008). At that time Tau Lamed, Tau Aron and
myself began to formulate our initial thoughts about hosting a local
event that would combine presentations of esoteric subjects with the
arts (music, art, dance, writing, film, etc). This was to be a combined
event hosted by various local Free Illuminist nodes here in Atlanta and
include special guests traveling from out of town. The kindling was
gathered, but the fire remained yet unlit. Then, in 2009, I was
independently approached by Tau Saga who was, at that time, a
facilitator of Templi de Niger Sol. Tau Saga told me she planned on
bringing Thomas Karlsson of Dragon Rouge to Atlanta in 2010, that she
wanted to have a series of events take place and asked if I wanted to be
involved. I enthusiastically agreed. 2010 saw the first manifestation
of this idea with great success.

TENDING THE FLAME

The above mentioned discussions in 2008 and 2009 – along with the

subsequent events of 2010 – were the direct precursors to what has now
become Illumination Expo. Some of the original organizers have gone on
to different projects while others have confirmed their ongoing
participation and we have a few new folks who have joined the organizers
team this year as well. The kindling that was gathered has been lit,
the initial sparks of light have grown into a full blown fire and now we
shall continue to tend the flame so that its light and heat may heal
and enlighten the worlds. Or at the very least, we’ll have a fun time of
it.

2011 was the first year Illumination Expo was held under this name. Iam personally committed to making this an annual event to celebratecreativity and gnosis in its varied forms. I want to thank the team oflocal organizers who helped make this a reality by graciously giving ofyour time, effort and resources, all of you who have sent donations andother expressions of encouragement and support, all of you who came outto the events and to each of the individual participants – those who are local and those who traveled from afar – I offer sincere expressions ofdeep gratitude. You have each in your own ways given concrete substanceto what was once merely an abstract idea in the minds of a few humble illuminists sitting around a coffee table asking ourselves, “Wouldn’t itbe cool if…?”. We couldn’t have done it without you. Special mention goes to Amodali and Mike Crowley. The Atlanta community loves you both very much. And to Max Grimm, for the care and skill with which yougracefully executed the complex task of coordinating the presentation ofall the art.

DANCING AROUND THE FIRE

Illumination Expo 2011 launched on Wednesday, September 14th, with a
truly magical performance by Amodali. The venue was Spring4th Center,
Annex Location. The setting allowed for a very intimate experience.
Amodali featured tracks from her new project – Liber Incarnadine. I was
familiar with her musical work already, but this was the first time I
had the privilege of attending a live performance. I was amazed,
mesmerized and enraptured. The rhythms pulsated, the voice of some
ancient and intoxicating goddess sang out to us, sang out to the world,
sang out to the universe. I could do nothing but dance in honor of this
moment and join in communion with the others who were present and with
the music itself. We lifted up our hearts in unison, sending out rays of
healing and illumination. I note that several days later I continued to
experience a noticeable energetic shift in my subtle body which I
attribute to being present at this performance. And further, inner
transformations have occurred that are with me to this day, a couple of
months later and still ongoing. A perfect way to initiate the Expo!

On Saturday, September 17th, Ormus Lodge hosted a Ganapati Puja. Manythanks to Tau Ishaviva and Tau Salix Alba for performing the openingcleansing and empowerment.

On Thursday, September 22nd, Tau Aron hosted a social in West
Atlanta. It was a wonderful evening of tea, nourishing snacks and
engaging conversation. Many thanks to Aron and Kara for opening your
home to us and for inviting a great mix of guests. New connections were
made and old connections were celebrated. May your generosity be
reciprocated a thousandfold.

On Friday and Saturday, September 23rd and 24th, we gathered for
esoteric presentations, art, poetry readings and music. The venue was
Atlanta Freethought Hall.

LOCAL FREE ILLUMINIST BODIES ARE AS VARIED AS THE NAME IMPLIES....

At this important point in the evolution of the Western Magical Tradition, it is becoming increasingly apparent that restrictive forms of gnosis based upon “grade systems” are becoming irrelevant for many who are attempting to perform the great work at this time; that is perhaps why you have read this far. Congregational illuminists operating on the principles of Scientific Illuminism find that, although some may have worked alone for extended periods, they may be living in a place on the Earth where they have no contact with others who may benefit from the sharing and developing research that could be usefully applied individually and collectively.

All congregational illuminists are dedicated to the furtherance of the Great Work, through themselves and through mutual aid and sharing.

The theory underlying congregational illuminist decentralism can be traced to anarcho-syndicalism, to certain Protestant Sects such as the Levelers and True Levelers in Britain at the time of the English Civil War, and denominations such as the Society of Friends on the one hand and the Congregationalist movement on the other. As it has developed in the modern occult-metaphysical world, three interesting elements all went into the making of the present movement.

The basis of Congregational Illuminism is simple, and can fairly be summarized as:

1. Spiritual growth is incompatible with authoritarian structure.
2. Scientific Illuminism requires a non-dogmatic, experimental
approach.
3. A free society linked in free communion should be actualized.
4. We facilitate, we do not lead. We do the Work, we do not extract
oaths or dues, or require dogmatic beliefs.

But even theseare a matter of individual preference. We are a free communion. Some of us are energy Workers, Working with the "points chauds" (key power points in the human body) system, others are Gnostics, others are radical reinterpreters of freemasonic fraternal ideals,others engaged in more traditionalmystery play initiations without the bindings involved in hierarchy.

First and foremost, the 19th Century Gnostic Revival and coinciding independent Apostolic Lineages set loose at the very time of the occult revival introduced decentralized Apostolic and Gnostic successions of egregore, which overlapped by the early 20th Century directly into the occult community, through the exchange of Masonic Dignities with Ecclesiastical Offices. Some centralist bodies took these successions to add legitimacy to their own agendas, but ad vitam egregoric transfers insured that no central authority could ever be definitive. This process continues inside congregational illuminism and elsewhere to the present time. Egregore without central authority or agenda has proven a fertile field for spiritual development.

The development of the modern OTO, beginning with Grady McMurtry and the establishment of Thelema Lodge out of Agape Lodge in California "spun off" a good many experiments inside the Caliphate OTO in Northern California, including "heretical gnostic massess". The increasing centralization of cOTO spun off two notable tendencies operating outside cOTO but still under the influence of Aleister Crowley's ideas, notably the Ecclesia Gnostica Universalis (EGnU). Ecclesia Gnostica Universalis (EGnU) was founded by a College of Bishops on the Fourth of July in the Year 2000 C.E. It has drawn together in a very non-hierarchical manner both Apostolic, Apostolic, Gnostic and Thelemic persons interested in a non-authoritarian approach to the magical-ecclesiastic egregore. The EGnU has continued to develop as an ever-broadening coalition of those who choose to celebrate the mysteries as spirituality or religion, but of diverse interests from Thelemic Gnostic, Voudon Gnostic and Eastern Tantric sources. Congregational Illuminists in the USA and the Balkans are wrestling with a Gnostic ceremonial consistent with current sensibilities and the principle of Scientific Illuminism.

While having nominal "leadership" to the present day, the Neo-Thelemic Ordo QBLH founded in 1960 by the late W.W. Webb and others always had a loose-knit structure, and, after Bill Webb's death, administrative titles became almost totally symbolic and served as a direct precursor of Congregational Illuminism facilitated by Soror Tala and the late brilliant computer scientist T. Coutu.I was a resident member of this group's Lodge Babalon for quite some time. It was here that Docteur Bertiaux's points chauds Voudon Gnosis Work was introduced, along with original ritual by Frater Achad and Enochian Workings.

Another more specifically Thelemic Gnostic non-authoritarian tendency is a direct antecedent of congregational illuminism per se. The closest thing to a "founder" of this movement is the famous magician and illuminist Mort Shapiro who continues to Work the Liber XV Mass without cOTO control under the name "Congregational Thelema". Brother Shapiro ("baal_kriah") has indicated his strong affinity for congregational illuminism.

While in a state of transit out of centralized bodies of manifestation, I was invited to join EGnU's College of Bishops, a very diverse body with a minimum of structural authority and a maximum of egregoric association. This proved a decisive influence upon me personally as to the limits of any kind of "authority" in the presentation and transfer of the egregore of the authentic tradition. I looked at Brother Shapiro's term "Congregational Thelema" and, mindful of the decentralist structure of the Congregationalist Churches, and of the diverse community of occultists that think that freedom is a more condusive atmosphere for spiritual development and illumination, modified Brother Shapiro's term to acknowledge those not self-defined as Thelemic. As Wikipedia notes "Congregational churches are Protestant Christian churches practicing Congregationalist church governance, in which each congregation independently and autonomously runs its own affairs.
"Many Congregational churches claim their descent from the original Congregational churches, a family of Protestant denominations formed on a theory of union published by the theologian Robert Browne in 1592. They arose from the Nonconformist religious movement in England during the Puritan reformation of the Church of England. In Great Britain, the early congregationalists were called separatists or independents to distinguish themselves from the similarly Calvinistic Presbyterians. Some congregationalists there still call themselves 'Independents'...Without higher courts to ensure doctrinal uniformity among the congregations, Congregationalists have been more diverse than other Reformed churches. Despite the efforts of Calvinists to maintain the dominance of their system, some Congregational churches, especially in the older settlements of New England, gradually developed leanings toward Arminianism, Unitarianism, Deism, and transcendentalism."

With these ideas and the idea that Scientific Illuminism can be applied without distinction to a wide diversity of approaches, I coined the term "congregational illuminist" anchored to the influences of Congregational Thelema, the democracy of Freemasonry as practiced in the USA, the decentralism of the egregore in the Gnostic community and the independent lines of Apostolic Succession, the ideas of the EGnU and building from the egregoric transfer granted me by Tau Michael Bertiaux through the Ecclesia Gnostica Spiritualis (Apostolic and Gnostic egregoric succession) and the Lodge of the Sons and Daughters of Aaron chartered by Bertiaux into a kind of occult and non-authoritarian version of Frank Herbert's concept of 'the Golden Path' of his Dune novels. As Wikipedia describes it, "The Golden Path is a term in Frank Herbert's fictional Dune universe for Leto Atreides II's strategy to prevent humanity's destruction..."

As applied here, it means to create many independent and diverse "power zones" (Lodges, Temples, Nodes, Individuals) fully empowered to "Work the egregore" as they see fit, ad vitam and without the possibility of revocation. Free communion is just that - mutual sharing and support on a voluntary basis with others Working the Authentic Tradition each according to their own perceptions. Once set in motion, this "golden path" is self-perpetuating and self-guiding, and has been reduced to the common denominators given on the Congregational Illuminist Facebook "Causes" site.

Congregational Illuminism as such is not a religion, and there are adhering Christians, Christian Gnostics, Thelemic Gnostics, Neopagans, Jews, Hindu and Muslim Congregational Illuminists, holding in common the above principles and a free communion of mutual support.

If there is not, forming one, though it takes time and some dedication, is not as difficult as it might first sound.

The NEXT STEP, may be that you want to set up your own centre of working. Free Illuminist bodies are just that – free to choose forms, write their own charters (samples are available as general ideas), be involved in such community organizing as a chartered lodge under the Rite Ancien et Primitif de Memphis-Misraim, or affiliated with the Ecclesia Gnostica Universalis (EGnU), which focuses on the spiritual form such as Celebratory Masses and Liturgical work, or being totally autonomous bodies or nodes in voluntary communion with other illuminist bodies to whatever extent a local body or node deems appropriate.

Sisters and Brothers in free communion, November 12, 2011

Mid November on the wilds and largely treeless Arabia Mountain power spot is a bit late in the year for even hearty free illuminists, but the weather favored us, and we had a good turn out to do an Episcopal Consecration for our honored guest from Portland Oregon, the Facilitator General of Azoth Temple of Universal Illuminism, along with signing his Lodge Charter. For the ceremony used, see the previous entry. Tau Aha was present just before departing Atlanta, and we had a formal passing of the Charter and Torch of Temple of the Black Sun in Atlanta into the capable hands of our brother Tau Aron and dear sister Deacon Raven, who I had ordained about two years ago, and who we were honored to ordain Priestess this Saturday. A number of us witnessed the signing of the original charter by the new facilitators, at the end of the Arabia Working. The Black Sun is in good hands and will doubtless continue to do great Work.

As has become customary, we ended as the sun began to set (and temp rapidly drop) with a robust and powerful healing circle for those absent and present in need.

Consecration of Tau Salix Alba (White Willow), Arabia Mountain October 29 2011

As her initial homily, she selected a reading from Eliot's "Little Gidding", part V:

What we call the beginning is often the end
And to make and end is to make a beginning.
The end is where we start from. And every phrase
And sentence that is right (where every word is at home,
Taking its place to support the others,
The word neither diffident nor ostentatious,
An easy commerce of the old and the new,
The common word exact without vulgarity,
The formal word precise but not pedantic,
The complete consort dancing together)
Every phrase and every sentence is an end and a beginning,
Every poem an epitaph. And any action
Is a step to the block, to the fire, down the sea's throat
Or to an illegible stone: and that is where we start.
We die with the dying:

Master Lu Tzu said: That which exists through itself is called Meaning. (Tao). Meaning has neither name nor force. It is the one essence, the one primordial spirit. Essence and life cannot be seen. It is contained in the Light of Heaven. The light of Heaven cannot be seen. It is contained in the two eyes.

The Heavenly Heart is like the dwelling place, the Light is the master. Therefore when the Light circulates, the powers of the whole body arrange themselves before its throne, just as when a holy king has taken possession of the capital and has laid down the fundamental rules of order, all the states approach with tribute, or, just as when the master is quiet and calm, men-servants and maids obey his orders of their own accord, and each does his work.

Therefore you only have to make the Light circulate: that is the deepest and most wonderful secret. The Light is easy to move, but difficult to fix. If it is allowed to go long enough in a circle, then it crystallizes itself: that is the natural spirit -body. This crystallized spirit is formed beyond the nine Heavens. It is the condition of which it is said in the Book of the Seal of the Heart: Silently in the morning thou fliest upward.

In carrying out this fundamental truth you need to seek for no other methods, but must only concentrate your thoughts on it.

The Light is not in the body alone, neither is it only outside the body. Mountains and rivers and the great earth are lit by sun and moon; all that is this Light. Therefore it is not only within the body. Understanding and clarity, knowing and enlightenment, and all motion (of the spirit), are likewise this Light; therefore it is not just something outside the body.

In keeping with Congregational Illuminist principles, Shin Sibylle received a Thelemic Consecration ritual, while the other candidates chose that ritual which has become our 'standard' consecration ritual on Arabia.

Anointing
The Principle Consecrator anoints the forehead, hands, and feet of the Bishop-Elect with Holy Oil.

Laying on of Hands

Illumination Expo 2011 is a series of events being hosted by local Free Illuminists to celebrate art, music and illumination.

To begin we are hosting a musical performance by Amodali featuring
tracks from her new project Liber Incarnadine. Amodali is traveling from
the UK. Previous projects include Six Comm/Mother Destruction. This new
project brings together many threads of Amodali’s work and research
into the relationships between sonics/language/sexuality and magick.

Tau Roger – Photographer

Tau Roger is a photographer working with conventional “analog”
methods using film and traditional darkroom materials. All of the works
in this show are silver gelatin prints made optically from film
negatives using a traditional enlarger. A network engineer by
profession, such photography and darkroom work represent a welcome
change from over-immersion in the digital world. He works primarily in
medium and large format film producing 2.25″x2.25″ and 4″x5″ negatives.
For landscapes and more formal portraits the 4×5 view camera is his
preferred tool, partly for the greatly increased print quality of large
negatives but also because the deliberate style required by this type of
camera encourages looking carefully and thoughtfully at each image. For
casual portraits and fast changing subjects he often uses a medium
format camera producing 2.25″x2.25″ negatives. This camera can be easily
hand held and is much faster in use than the 4×5 while still providing
much higher image quality than 35mm.

experience. Like a true visionary with his camera he dares to show us
the darkest parts of ourselves, the human experience raw, open and
exposed. With the gentleness of a great teacher, his photographs allow

unconscious with archetypes that absorbs information from all

Max Grimm – Artist

When I paint I am able to return to my childhood. I am reminded of my
first set of watercolors. My mother was fascinated by watching me
experiment with colors as they ran into each other on the paper. It is a
memory of innocence and creativity. This is something I try to
replicate each time squeeze out some acrylics and pick up a brush.

I am still amazed at the myriad of colors that can be created by
mixing the primaries. It is an alchemical gift for the eyes. I try to
hold no preconceived ideas as I begin the creative process. During the
nurturing of the work, there comes a point when the paint, ink and panel
become more than the sum of their parts and take on a life of their
own. As I am growing older and hopefully wiser, I am able to see my
personal evolution through the history of my love of creating art. From
my childhood doodlings up to the present mixed media works on wood
panel, I have been able to discover new parts of my heart and avenues of
the psyche. I am given the privilege of ability to create images that
transcend language. For this, I am most humbled and eternally grateful.

As must all living things, I believe that my art must grow through
discovery and expansion into new realms using new mediums. I am very
excited at the possibilities of digital photography, assemblage, collage
and the combination of mediums and technologies both old and new. I
have found it impossible to be unexcited and not in love with this gift
of art.

J.M. VonKotterhausen is a digital medium artist who is devoted to
exploring his medium as a tool for shamanic trance and initiatic states

processes involved with the mediumship, the artist is able to expand on
universal communion bearing the connectedness between all sentient and

Randi Pixie Bruner is Shin Pixie Kleio Urania of the Ecclesia
Gnostica Universalis, a Gnostic Bishop, and one of the facilitators of
Ormus Lodge in Atlanta, GA. She is a Thelemite and her poetry has been
published in many magazines and anthologies as well as being a
professional gothic horror role-playing game writer and a holds an M.A.

My Work has involved study in European and African Diasporic herblore,

Michael Crowley – Presenter and Author

Mike Crowley was born in Wales in 1948. In 1966 a Tibetan lama took
Mike as his student and, in 1970, ordained him as a layman of the Kagyud
order. Gradually, over the next twenty years or so, it became evident
to Mike that sacramental drug-use was central to the earliest forms of
Vajrayana (i.e. tantric) Buddhism, the evidence being concealed in coded
language and word-play. Since that time, Mike has been investigating
the use of psychedelics within Vajrayana Buddhism, tracing its origins
to the Vedic soma rite and perhaps further, possibly as far back as the
Indus Valley culture (4,000 BCE). This research has been compiled into a
book, Secret Drugs of Buddhism, which will be made available online

Not many years ago I was comparing the sudden end of a story that I
was reading, with my job that had moved to Mexico, when my wife said to
me; “that Book is Cursed”. It started to get good then the author died.
Another writer had picked it up and he died too. That was a challenge. I
realized that my response was to pick it up and finish it. I play folk
music so stealing a song was not new. But this was a book and I was not a
writer. I did not know then that I had joined an exclusive club. The HP
Lovecraft Circle of the Necronomicon Mythos. A few years went by of
hard work learning a new craft. My novella was finished, and I was more
than just hooked. I was stuffed, mounted and hanging on the wall.

Bill Zenn – Presenter

Bill Zenn has been a student of esoterica for about 25 years. He is a
Bishop with Gnostic and Apostolic succession, a Free Illuminist, a
Vodouisant and a rogue philosopher. He currently serves Holy Mother

printer, a scenic artist and lighting technician, drug addict,

Sid Reflux was born into a musical family and since day one was
surrounded by music. Learning the craft of beat matching and layering on
his fisher price turn table at age 3 he quickly rose in the ranks of
the pre-school recess scene with his stunning remix mash up of Baa Baa
Black Sheep and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. After years of rocking many
elementary school playgrounds across the US he fell into the dark
depths of a severe animal cracker addiction. After a long hiatus Sid
came back and better than ever, clean from his cravings for animal
shaped cookies. Coming back into the scene he loves so much in 1999 he
started working his way up the ladder once again starting as a party
kid, set up/clean up crew, flyer/street team, ticket guy eventually
becoming a Happyhardcore MCee in 2002 and then moving back behind the
turn tables in 2003. Now after 8 years of djing across the south east
for just about every major rave crew Sid is right back where he belongs,
playing dirty funky beats for the party people to enjoy. Playing a wide
variety of EDM Sid is most often found spinning Hard Dance and Electro
House. A respected dj who cut his teeth with Vinyl records Sid’s future
is very bright. Weather you like it hard or funky the sets of this man
are sure to please.

DJ Carma – Music

DJ Carma, born Oleg Prisacari in 1983, is an up and coming electronic
music genre sensation. Inspired by the likes of Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk,
and Mauro Picotto, he makes his own productions, remixes, song editing,
along with eclectic monthly mix compilations and piano lessons. His
unique mixing style, which can be witnessed through his mixes,
encompasses many shades of electronic music, is a sound only to be
witnessed with your own ears. Self taught the art of DJ, and honed his

Congregational Illuminists gathered on Consecration Rock, Arabia Mountain GA on Saturday, August 13, 2011. There were three episcopal consecrations, Shin Pixie Kleio Urania,Tau Osania and Bishop Savitri Anandausing, involving two very different ceremonies in keeping with our eclectic approach, a powerful healing circle on Consecration Rock, following a moving essay on forgiveness by Tau Ishaviva, and much discussion of upcoming events. Each new bishop gave their first homily of blessing to the applause of the assembled illuminists.
TAU OSANIA'S CONSECRATION ON ARABIA MT AUG 13 2011
TAU OSANIA'S ACCOUNT OF HER CONSECRATION I have returned to Georgia and wanted to get my notes from Mt Arabia and after. Do hope this is what you where looking for. Besides that pushing through the "Nag Hammadi" interesting enough the demons of that day aren't much different than present. Only the actors of changed. This is the transcript from my daily journal as it was put forth unedited Was quite a day with going up to Mt Arabia for my Ecclesia Consecration of Bishop with Allen Greenfield Consecrator(Tau Sir Hasirim), +Dositheos, Tau Ishaviva. As the rite began there was a white light around me. About halfway through I began shake (then lost time and was in the presence of Sophia. I know there was a time warp since I listened to the same a couple of hours later and it felt so very short compared to that which I had previously experienced. Could feel the blessing of the Goddess upon me after the Rite. I was given a chance for a blessing and did so with that I wrote beforehand. I could feel a bit of clarity on Saturday. We went home instead of doing dinner which actually allowed that which I received to blossom. Some soup in the freezer and that was dinner as I briefly caught a few Internet messages. Was very tired and laid down. Could of started with coffee, yet wanted to let the Rite to understood also in my dream world. Woke up about 1 1/2 hrs later 11pm and had some popcorn (homemade) & for me a rare beer. Looked at some of the photos of the Rite on FB then went back to sleep around 12. Woke up around 10am. A very pleasant perception of the world and the sense of I am AL(L) all (spelling is defunct) and very much a sense of Achad's perception of the world. My regular a couple cups of tea, Yoga & meditation with a prayer while in Kether that I will find” Meaningful & Enjoyable Employment to serve Nuit” then on to my regular of writing here in my journal and cooking some brown rice for breakfast. Back to meditation there was an opening of the skies while in the pyramids. Interesting today’s card is “Pe, The Tower” which itself depicting of such. Looking at things differently. Will go and stand with T C___today and show support for the cause of “no bullying”that and pick up a few things for the week since I will be traveling on Wednesday night to see Mom. Hope to get sometime to paint this afternoon before I go to the rally. The Blessing Ahh Ohh Ehh Hem I would like to read a invocation adapted from Frater Achad Mother of the Sun whose body is white with milk of the stars, Bend upon thy servants and impart unto us thy secret Kiss Enkindle with us the Holy Ecstasy thou hast promised unto them that love thee, The Ecstasy which redeemeth from all pain. Tau Sir Hasirim consecrates Shin Pixie, assisted by Tau Max and Tau Dositheos
SHIN PIXIE'S ACCOUNT OF CONSECRATION - Shin Pixie I awoke at 9am the morning of my consecration, showered, packed backpack for Arabia and got a ride with +IshaViva's friend Rizard. Got to Kwan Yin House. I lied on the loveseat and dozed off and on a little. Sonny made us lunch while I meditated and once again feel asleep. We picked up +Ousania enroute to Arabia. I felt calm and ready. Climbing Arabia was different this time. I knew who I was while going up was not the person who was coming down. I crossed onto the Mountain itself and a weight descended upon me. I took the walk up very slowly and intentionally. I watched my feet as I crossed from grass to rocky areas to eventually solid rock. There is a step area, a liminal zone, as you begin the ascent. Large flat rock area of which one steps up, crosses and then steps down and one is on Arabia solid. As I stepped up onto the step area to cross it, my heart began racing. About 2/3rds of the way to the top, it became pure mind over matter. The foot wound had broken open and was weeping. I kept going however, in pain, heart feeling as if it would burst from my chest at any minute. I suddenly feared dying. I reached the top, I did not think, I merely walked upwards, mind over matter. The Spirit was willing, my flesh weak. I made it to Consecration rock. I passed around Sonny's and my Ketubah and it was signed. Lastly by +Allen who was right in saying he should sign it before my Consecration as the women Sonny married and agreed to in the Ketubah is not who I would be after Consecration. I wept and absolute joy welled up in me as I witnessed Sashia Agape become +Ousania. I photographed the event and instinctively knew the ritual, tho I had never heard it before, and knew when to take the pictures to document it, the moments of transformation and caught them all on camera. Next, I watched the consecration of Shin Savitri Ananda. I took photographs again. I was to be consecrated last as +AHA was running late and had not arrived. An impromptu Illumination Expo meeting took place. Much planning and work was done. Constructive time. There was the "traditional" healing circle on Consecration Rock. I had asked for my sister to be helped and healed as she is suffering greatly. I also felt guilty for also asking that the wound on the top of my foot from a large fire ant heal. It was weeping and infected and while the infection seemed under control, it was still an open foot wound and ulcer. As a type 1 diabetic for 27 years and a daughter of a multiple amputee, it was risky to me. Foot wounds are dangerous to diabetics. As the chant was reaching a crescendo, my foot began to burn and tingle. I will speak about that later on in my report. 6pm. Tau AHA had not arrived, although he was allegedly enroute. I was asked if I had a second co-consecrator I was willing to ask to stand for me. I immediately asked +Max, whom I feel a deep kinship with as well and greatly respect. He agreed. It was very much in keeping with Doinels epiphany according to +Allen. Also, nothing goes according to plan,one must be flexible, LOL. The Universes Will is sometimes different from our own. It was the "magic time" on Mt. Arabia, the sun was setting and directly in my eyes during Consecration. When my eyes were open, they were directly looking at the sun. Ritual began. The oil burned immensely. A serious burning. Not merely physical, but into me burning. Forehead ablaze, third eye on fire. No burn like that noted on hands and feet. That burn was unlike anything I have ever known. I have a very high pain tolerance having Ehler-Danlos and Fibromylagia and this was intense. As +Langley has written to me, it is indeed "the crown of thorns" we wear upon consecration. I can still easily trace via psychometry the extract circle and dot +Allen placed upon my forehead. As for the blessing and the curse- upon the placement of the blessing and curse upon me, my inner voice screamed "Life!" and all my cells joined in that joyful refrain of "life". There is only life. As the episkopos and apostolic egregore was poured into me by +Allen, +Dositheos and +Max, I felt as I I were an earthenware vessel being poured into from three sources and also flowing up from the rock itself. +Dositheos announced my new name. Shin Pixie Kleio Urania. Pixie as it is my name. But choosing an ecclesiastical name was a challenge for me. I did not want a name without meaning or a name that did not reveal itself. I therefore had not intentionally chosen a ecclesticial name until one revealed itself to me. Eventually over a period of days in May, I was called to the Muses of history and astronomy. I am a historian and an avid stargazer and am even a board member (Recording Secretary, I serve as the archivist) for the largest amateur astronomy club in the S.E. USA.. I was to be Pixie Kleio Urania, in honor of the Muses who compose part of my being and who speak to me in writing, academics, my lecturing, and the nightly sky. Plus it connects me to the history of the Gnostic and Apostolic lineages and egregore and also to the fact that I personally believe that "Every man and woman is a star". I had written notes for a Benediction. However, I was experiencing something profound and deeply personal at that moment and I am not exactly sure what I said. I know it was about Gnosis and Agape. I had intended to be eloquent. I am not sure I succeeded. The prepared Benediction went out the window, I do not recall a word of it, but do have my notes on my computer and instead I spoke plainly and from the heart instead. It was a prayer for humanity for awareness and compassionate true love and growth, that I do recall. That was my Intent at least, I am not sure what actually issued from my mouth at that profound time and my mind cannot recall the words, just the feeling, purpose, and what I was radiating and meant. Mea culpa. I am human and small. The rest is a blur of friendship, good conversations, and a crushing fatigue. We got home and watched a few episodes of "Ghost in the Shell 2nd GIG" Nine hours previously, while I was on Arabia, my sister had emailed me and things had gotten worse for her. This was before the healing circle. I am glad that I petitioned to send her healing as she needs it so greatly. I removed my shoes and socks. Wound was closed, dried lymph drainage on my sock from when it was open on the mountain. Scabbed over finally after a week of being unable to close or start healing despite large doses of neem and neem application to wound. Definite positive change in wound condition. I do not wish to discuss detail but tantra that night was very different. I lost consciousness three times I think. I shared a time of exquisite beauty with my husband.The blurring of selves in The Canticle of the Bridegroom Chist" by St. John of the Cross. To love another human unconditionally is to know the Divine and see the face of God. Utter loss of Self. Awoke at 10am Sunday. Excited to have my new pet snake and my roomies two new pet tartulas arrive later in day. Also happy to go food shopping. Drove husband to MARTA station. Went food shopping. Physical reaction to Consecration began. Unpleasant. Body violently purging itself. Ugh. Drove home to find the new pets had JUST arrived. Rushed in, got groceries put up quickly and set my snake up on my altar. She is a San Gabriel Rosy Boa. Gorgeous snake. She is not used to being handled so is learning and being trained to snuggle by me. The two tartantulas are adorable simple machines. I am not afraid of them at all. I usually am horrified by spiders and will scream immediately "kill it!". Not now. My phobia seems controlled by me for these big fuzzy Chilean Rose spiders, I also see that they are beautiful powerful amazing creatures and respect them. Not the person who called Nicole at 2am to come across from her dorm room to remove a daddy long legs from my room as I was in tears standing on my bed. (Yes, she removed the spider for me, let him loose, and laughed at me.). Went to bed 1:30am. 3:40am- Awakened with a scream. I am sitting upright. Still feel the imprint of someones hand on mine. Husband is out cold still. Cold sweat. Dreamed of the dead. Had conversations with them. There was only one whom I did not know personally and the message was cryptic. Still processing and trying to figure out who it was or if was even related to or directed at me. Was able to fall asleep in a half hour, after I calmed down. Husband would not wake up to comfort me, he was in deep sleep and merely asked what the ticket number was. Work in IT tech support is eating his brain:) Today- normal, mundane. Nothing other than heightened perceptions and drive to do genealogical research to resolve the dream.vision I had. Agape, Shin Pixie

Forgiveness -
While out driving a while back I saw one person in a car make the mistake of pulling out in front of another person in a different car. It was close, but no accident happened. What I witnessed next really made me sad. The one who got pulled out in front of, the one who wouldn't have been at fault if there had been a collision, rolled his window down and shouted an obscenity and flipped a bird at the other driver. Behavior like that makes sad because there didn't seem to be any forgiveness on the part of the innocent driver. Like Jesus said, who can throw the first stone? I know I have made similar mistakes while driving; I'm glad to say not very often, but I have. And the thing is, we all probably have. I'm pretty darn sure that the person who was at fault had already realized their mistake and felt bad about it. But you see, the thing is, that by acting out like that the guy that flipped the bird might just have made the person whose fault it was get his back up, so to speak. Now, instead of just feeling sorry that they did that, and telling himself to be more careful, now the person is more likely to start come up with defenses in his head, and/ or being mad back at the other person. This got me to thinking about forgiveness. We all make mistakes. It's very important for us to be honest with ourselves about that fact. If someone gives you a hard time about it though, a lot of people will go into a defensive mode and then not take responsibility for it and learn from it. I think that the guy that flipped the bird put much more harmful vibes into the Quantum field than the person who made the mistake. Those hateful vibes have much more devastating effects than mistakes, because they have intention behind them. When we learn to Love our selves there is no shame in admitting that we are fallible. It makes a person more a part of humanity. It would seem that the bird flipper thinks that he is infallible, and therefore separate from humanity. This is a disastrous predicament. It shows a lack of love for oneself. If you are only going to feel good about yourself by telling yourself that you are better, (I would never have done something that stupid!!!!), then you are lying to yourself, and we don't lie to people we respect. Another way that kind of aggressive behavior shows lack of self respect is that anger actually hurts our bodies, physically. Being angry releases brain chemicals that do damage to the physical body. I don't know if there's been research on it or not but my guess is that the opposite is true too–feeling forgiveness releases brain chemicals that are good for our physical bodies. I'm able to forgive people for many things. I only ask that we learn from our mistakes. If you've learned from the mistake you made, and have used the opportunity to become a more whole person, then your mistake is absolutely forgivable. And when you do come to a recognition of the mistake, and learn the lesson, and grow from it, only then will you be able to truly and honestly forgive yourself. And this is the most important part of forgiveness. When you are able to forgive yourself it means you really have learned from the experience. So, are you at a place where you can truly and honestly forgive yourself for your past mistakes? Do you think highly enough of yourself to forgive yourself? What you must realize is that the first step on the path to forgiving yourself is to admit that you made the mistake. Because only then can you learn from it. If you refuse to look at it honestly, from an objective point of view; if you keep insisting to yourself that you made no mistake, or you have no blame, then you can't very well forgive yourself, can you? This has everything to do with self-respect. Admitting that you have blame, that you made a mistake, is the utmost self-respect. Lying to yourself isn't respectful of yourself. So, in order to truly respect yourself it is necessary to be okay with the fact that you are fallible. You must take this first step if you are ever to grow and move forward on your path to spiritual development. And the highest honor that you can do yourself, in order to achieve true forgiveness for yourself, is to apologize to those that you have wronged. For when you can do that, from your heart, then you have realized the lesson involved. Because if you cannot bring yourself to a place where you can apologize to whomever you've wronged, then that shows that you still carry guilt and shame. Guilt and shame will rewrite the script in your conscious mind to alleviate your guilt, and there is no self forgiveness and therefore no self respect in doing this. If you can't bring yourself to apologize to those you've wronged, take this as a sign that you still carry guilt and shame. Apologizing is very hard, but when you can do it, from your heart, the power you come into, the alleviation of the guilt and shame you would otherwise carry, is very much worth the Work. In my eyes this is part of The Great Work. No one ever said it was easy. That's why we call it the Great Work! I'll end with a quote that I think is appropriate: Whatever joy there is in this world all comes from desiring others to be happy, and whatever suffering there is in this world all comes from desiring myself to be happy at the expense of others. --Shantideva, A Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life

Illumination Expo 2011 – Call for donations

Please consider donating for Illumination Expo 2011. This is an annual event hosted by Free Illuminists local to Atlanta, GA. Current events include a magical/musical performance by Amodali who is visiting from the UK, an art exhibit for local artists, talks, presentations and workshops on Vodou, healing, points chauds, Gnosticism, Buddhist iconography and more. Guest speakers include T Allen Greenfield, Tau Naamah, Lama Michael Crowley, Caleb Storms, Bill Zenn, Pixie Bruner, et al. Art presented by Max Grimm, J.M. VonKotterhausen, Roger Cole, Darian Parker and Caleb Storms. Music presented by DJ Light. Dates are Wednesday 14 September for Amodali’s show, Friday and Saturday 23 and 24 September for the art exhibit, poetry readings and presentations. Other events are also being planned. A complete schedule with times, locations and other details will be forthcoming. We do not intend on making a profit for these events. We want to offer the events for free , or – at the very least – a very inexpensive entry fee. This is a celebration of how illumination extends out through our lives and is expressed through our art and ideas. Arabia Mountain Georgia was yet again the site of three consecrations and points chauds Working in a free illuminist context on the closest Saturday to the Summer Solstice 2011. Tau Caelestius, Tau Darien, Tau Kim, were consecrated on Arabia Mountain in free communion on Saturday, June 18, 2011.

Tau Caelestius’ Account of Consecration and Points Work

Time felt like it was standing still during the consecration, and it felt like we were standing in a bubble. I didn't notice the wind, or any noises that weren't coming from Consecration Rock. The moment the egregore was transferred was "quieter" than I was expecting. There was no lightning bolt from heaven, so to speak, or any immediate sense of elation or ecstasy; just a gentle uplifting, and a lingering sense of "this is right".

The receiving of points was an interesting experience. Unfortunately, due to the threat of a thunderstorm, I was only able to receive a handful of points on the mountain, though the majority of the rest were given to me at Kwan Yin House later that evening. The points in the head and face feel more active than the rest, but that's not to say the others are any less "awake". When I focus on them, I can feel almost a tingle under the skin where the points are located. They definitely began to network and "yearn" for each other immediately after they were activated. The ones in the throat, for example, felt like they were criss-crossing with each other, kind of like very fine thread shoelaces of red and green linking up each point. The ones in the back radiated outward when they were activated, like wings or tentacles. I felt slightly "floaty" when the points in the stomach were being activated.

The realization of the consecration didn't fully hit me until I got home, and now, weeks after the event, I feel more in-tune with the universe. My senses are sharper, and I've been noticing heightened intuition. The points definitely want to be given and transmitted to others, so it will be interesting to continue the Work here.

A brief account of my Consecration experience

I was consecrated into a multitude of ecclesiastic, apostolic and egregoric lines of succession on Consecration Rock at Mount Arabia on June 18, 2011, by Tau Allen Greenfield (TAG). TAG asked me to recount my experience from the time of my (serious) calling to consecration to the time of my (whimsical) quest to reclaim my umbrella from the Indian restaurant that we customarily visit after a day at Arabia, Mirch Masala in Decatur, Ga.

It’s difficult to tell this story as a standalone incident, as I’ve been witnessing many, many near-miraculous events occur in my life as of late, due in no small part to magickal seeds that I planted years ago. (I plan to document these in the very near future!) In fact, the magickal experiences of my life predate my “formal” initiations (which TAG has factored into repeatedly) by several years. Something I’ve noticed with my own initiations is that the energy always ripples backward in time – I start receiving the epiphanies, gifts, ordeals and lessons for weeks or even months before I take the initiation. Perhaps just the thought of – the calling to – each initiation gets the ball rolling. For me, a formal initiation is more like the wax seal on the envelope than the initiation itself.

This is supposed to be brief, so where to start, where to start …

I’ve been aware of the work going on on Mount Arabia, the consecrations and the points chauds, for about four years now. I was invited by a friend/acquaintance about three years ago but declined to participate for various reasons, mostly due to the bad taste left in my mouth from prior events that prompted me to part ways with the local “magickal community” back in 2005.

In August of 2010 I formally reestablished connections with some fellow initiates by going a step further than just lurking about on Facebook – I actually sent emails, requested a reading, and made plans to meet in person.

After speaking more with Bill about the Work going on under the larger umbrella of Congregational Illuminism, I decided to visit Mount Arabia on March 20, 2011, the Spring Equinox. I witnessed Bishop Max’s consecration and received six points chauds of my own. The following day I found myself agitated and second-guessing whether I wanted to pursue the Work again at all; after all, I had just emerged from a long period of near-agnosticism and a complete sabbatical from the company of other “magicians” on the whole. A lot of old ghosts came back to haunt me and they made me uncomfortable.

On March 23, 2011, I did an I Ching cast for the question “Pursue Congregational Illuminism” and got this:Hexagram 61, Inner Truth, moving lines 1 and 2, changing to Hexagram 20, Seeing.I took this as a green light to go forward.

I had some doubts along and along about becoming a “Bishop” due to mostly the semantics issue. I’m not anti-religion and have never been explicitly anti-Christian, but I worried that this may be a title that brings with it responsibilities and duties that I am not ready for or don’t have the time for. Luckily, after discussing my concerns with my bishop friends, I was made to feel that I’m really on the right page after all.

So why did I want to be consecrated as a bishop? Well, as TAG explained, to build up my body of light. To further empower myself to continue achieving the gnosis and illumination that I have been working toward since I was 12 years old. I want to receive all 97 (or more) points chauds; I want to increase my psychic/intuitive abilities; and, as I told TAG at my first official ritual initiation back in 1998 when asked why I seek initiation, “to learn more about myself and the universe.” This may sound silly, but when I think of what I really want to do when I grow up, I think of being something like a psychic detective. A real one. I have always known that I have spiritual “gifts” but I’m still learning how to nurture them, and ultimately, what to do with them.

Nothing astoundingly earth-shattering happened the day of my consecration, though what happened afterward I would classify as “interesting.” After the dinner at Mirch Masala, the waiter only charged me and my husband for one buffet (but charged for two beers) and I, having an honesty disorder, insisted that he charge me for two buffets. Even when I pointed it out to him on the receipt he said, no, we charged you for two. But he finally saw the mistake and then charged me for it.

SO, when I got out into the parking lot, I found a $20 bill lying on the ground. I picked it up and asked the folks in front of me if it belonged to them and they said no, so my husband said I should keep it. Hmmm, so was the universe just trying to throw free food and money at me? (Lol, I doget free food quite a bit, but that’s another story for another time ...) I almost thought the $20 was a windfall but then realized a few days later that I left my $20 umbrella at the restaurant. Was it a wash? Well, I called the restaurant and they said they had found it.So, the following Saturday (yesterday as of this writing), I just happened to have a dentist’s appointment in Decatur anyway at 9 a.m. (an appointment I had made 6 months earlier), so once I got out at 10 I just waited around until 11:30 for Mirch Masala to open, and retrieved my umbrella. J(Footnote: I ended up buying another umbrella anyway a few days earlier because it was raining … so now I have two umbrellas!)

But wait – there’s more! I have three other things to add to the story.

First, the evening after the consecration, we returned to Kwan Yin house, where my husband and I ended up spending some time with Tau Indigo and her boyfriend Azul later in the evening. She asked me about my bibliomancy readings. I had attempted one for her the night before but found the energy in the room too “staticky” due to so many conversations going on; plus, it wasn’t my usual book (the Roget’s Thesaurus). So, I whipped out my iPhone to share my most recent discovery, the oracular-spectacular Random Paragraph Generator (http://watchout4snakes.com/CreativityTools/RandomParagraph/RandomParagraph.aspx). I plugged in Indio and Azul’s names and the returned results were such a staggeringly solid HIT that my hands actually started shaking. I’m not saying “I” hit a thing; I’m saying that God is in the machine. J

Second: The day after my consecration I spoke to my mother on the phone and she suggested that our family take a road trip to the Georgia Guidestones. She actually just seemed intrigued and interested by them, and wasn’t railing about how satanic they were. My mother and I have a complicated relationship to say the least, mainly because she’s a staunch Southern Baptist obsessed with end-times prophecy and the rapture, and I’mnot. She also has natural psychic/intuitive abilities (we have Cherokee Indian ancestry), and I freely admit hers are stronger than mine in many ways (she can actually SEE spirits; I have yet to lay eyes on one). But she’s so mixed up with evangelical religion that she’s convinced she’s a prophet and that almost everything she thinks is something “God” told her.

I’m not really sure why she wanted to go to the Guidestones; maybe she read about it on a conspiracy website?We ended up going Saturday (the day I got my umbrella back lol) and it was actually a pleasant trip with the entire family in the car (mom, dad, sister, husband and myself). She didn’t even yammer about her health problems, Israel, Obama and the rapture the whole time. Wow, this IS a miracle! I’d be happy to have a better relationship with my mother. If this ends up being an effect of my consecration, I’ll take it.

The third tidbit is:When I went to the dentist for my cleaning yesterday, I was supposed to get my annual x-rays, but after multiple attempts, they couldn’t get the x-ray machine to work. They told me they had already used it on two other patients that morning, but it suddenly wasn’t working on me. For some reason they didn’t bother to take me to another room for the x-rays; I just didn’t get them. Maybe it was a coincidence? Maybe the machine just tore up before I got there? I didn’t call back later to find out if it had started working again, so who knows. This might be bullshit but I’d like to think there was something synchronicitous about it. Maybe my newly strengthened aura was just too much for the machine. Hahaha! ;-p

My OTO body , Serpentine Splendour Lodge in Las Vegas, was a wonderful oasis of friendship. I truly enjoyed being with the members that became my friends at the Lodge. Learning from the knowledgeable friends and laughing with everyone was how we spent the day at SSL. Good times. One day while mopping the lodge floors and cleaning the temple space for an upcoming event a close friend of mine called.

“What are you doing?”

“Right now I’m mopping floors.”

“Where?”

“At my OTO thing.”

“You’re always working at that OTO group you must really get a lot from it.”

“Yeah, I guess I do.”

“I’m jealous.”

“Why?”

“I have never had anything that made me as happy as you are at that OTO.”

My friend didn’t know what the “OTO” was, but she did know that I was there every time she called me.

How naïve I was, moving up into the local body from Secretary to Deputy Lodge Master thinking that my local body was the OTO. Unfortunately, I soon found the politics and play parties similar to high school, “Glee”, “Fame” or

“90210”overshadowed the contributions being made by a local body.

An outsider came into the area and was allowed to over rule the practices of over a decade of local customs because she knew the King and his wife and used it to push her demands. My fraternal oasis was quickly flooding and sinking due to undermining of local rules. People who were on bad report or too lazy to observe the rules of the local body were encouraged to unofficially form their own group within miles of the Lodge. The body members of the Lodge were encouraged to support two bodies which had no reason to be in one valley which needed money focused on keeping the official Lodge going as opposed to fractioning off into an unneeded second body in under a 15 mile radius.

We had great fundraisers at Serpentine Splendour Lodge that were as much fun as they were profitable. We united the pagan community after years of segregation by attending their events and they came to our events respectively. Because of stigmas surrounding the OTO, many of the local pagan groups avoided us or straight out rejected us. It was only because of our local OTO officers personalities and dedication that we were able to bridge the differences and finally start to come together as one strong pagan community, unified. By the time we had one of our last big events, there was more support from the pagan community as a whole volunteering at our event, than there was from the local members. It was wonderful to be a strong community as a concise unified pagan whole.

I remember laughing and sweating working for hours at an overall purpose to bring Thelema to the valley of Las Vegas. And serve the community through Gnostic Masses and initiations. I had deep pride in my body with intelligent members with jobs!(Can you imagine!) We were melding the art community with the magick/Thelemic community bringing in money that paid a portion of the bills for the Lodge through DJ shows, art galleries, and silent auctions. The body innovated fundraisers at a level never practiced in the OTO. We hosted out of town visitors and showed them around Las Vegas and at times arranged tickets to the show I was performing nightly on the Strip.

The body was excelling and we were challenging each other to be the most competent and instructed initiators and clergy we could be. We practiced healthy friendly competition and had regular mass and initiation practices to make sure we were not just half assed rambling parts of quotes from the sacred initiations.

But soon politics infected progress and eventually beat down the will to excel leaving us doing whatever we could to explain to guests , associate members (not involved as officers just attending) and anyone else who asked why Grand Lodge wasn’t not supporting us ,but siding with a group formed out of a common bond of undermining the good of the lodge for something “looser on rules” where people who made guests nervous being creepy and/or anti-Semitic couldn’t even get sponsors into the lodge unanimously.

We requested an official investigation to defend ourselves against accusations lobbied against us from the outsider with friends in high places. The report was dismissed and ignored because they did not find the horrible evidence they wanted to find to assist in shutting down the body or at least transferring leadership to someone more politically fuckable. (Is my English correct with that word?)

Eventually the body was closed because the members were forced to either back the socially inept “Camp In Formation Leader” or get out of the way. The members voted and wanted things the way they had always been or nothing at all. And so the body closed and my love and hope for the beauty of the Ordo Templi Orientis was tainted by the reality of dirty politics and nepotism. (See “Nepotism” 2005 SCHOLAR discography)

I held one flickering flame for the OTO as I toured North America and would visit bodies in most of the cities I toured, hoping I would see that all of the dirty politics was only affecting my local body. I hoped it was a hurtful exception to the norm. Instead, I heard story after story of support from Grand Lodge being ignored or the victims of the same situation (politically aligned outsider moving in and eating the body from within) over and over again. The difference was we wouldn’t shut up. We wouldn’t just allow this to happen silently over and over again. We wanted “the people” to represent the OTO, but the upper management make the rules and they choose who will be expelled, put on bad report, or simply ignored and left to make their own decisions which would then be overturned in favor of the most politically connected usurper. You could go through a mediation process where you would be asked to metaphorically apologize to the rapist and explain how you shouldn’t have been so seductively adhering to the rules on the page when the words of a misguided leadership rendered all your fighting moot.

I loved the OTO with all of my heart. I wanted a lamen tattoo and I wrote songs to rally the order and my brothers and sisters. I donated monthly, weekly, and more knowing my money was going to helping members see what an exceptional local body we had. I later realized I didn’t know where my money was really going.

It sure wasn’t publishing books or even Agape. And soon the “invitation only” degrees were approaching and if you dared question Grand Lodge you shouldn’t hold your breath on acceptance because YOU probably have issues to workout with an immovable unforgiving nepotistic system. The Thought Police were everywhere.

Yes, I loved the OTO more than any other organization I had ever been a part of and all I got in return was years of insightful “dissent” music that helped me clarify my Thelema. I didn’t need acceptance in an organization where people judge your worth by if you’ll submit to creepy sexual advances in order to be invited to hang with the “cool” club and get your next initiation from those same hollow people who never listened to you when you needed real mediation and solemnly wise guidance. I learned you can not seek to be raised in initiation from people whom you had no respect for their drug addled choices and bad decision making.

I loved the OTO, but the “spirituality” I sought was only placed synthetically by me upon an idea of what I thought the OTO really was from reading Crowley. But Crowley wrote fiction and I could get more initiatory insight and spiritual training reading the edited chopped up Crowley books released to the public after the “real” goods had been removed and saved for political leverage later.

And now that I’ve resigned from the OTO, I still look back on the great times I had with the OTO, like a girlfriend who I was just getting to know right before I was let into her world and realized that she was nothing like that superficial dream I was seeing in the beginning. Her intentions were misguided and her family members were even more twisted and conniving than she. But I loved her. Or thought I did.

I still have a picture of my OTO hanging in the words and ideas of the songs I wrote during the honeymoon, but they are informed by the lessons I learned and recorded in the songs, podcasts, books, and satire I have released since to be a warning to others to love the OTO, but beware of the men behind the curtain. I say men because the only women that are allowed to rise are the most damaged, submissive, or soon to be damaged women who misguidedly see “Scarlet Woman” in the role of something to be controlled by the “Beast” which is a station always assigned to men. And is always in the drivers seat.

Before my current spouse was my spiritual soul warrior, she was my friend, my initiator, and my superior officer in the OTO. She was on the “fast track” in moving up the chain of command until she rejected a sexual advance at a party and soon found herself shut out. She rejected the sexual advances which lead to whispers of her not being part of the team.

You would like to assure yourself that these are the ramblings of someone with a grudge for a “one time” situation. And you may do that. Right until it happens to you or someone you know.

Real Aliens: A New Steiger-And-Steiger Title

The very latest in an excellent series of titles from the husband-and-wife team of Brad Steiger and Sherry Hansen Steiger, Real Aliens, Space Beings, and Creatures from other Worlds, is yet another winner, I'm pleased to say.

Running at almost 400-pages, and packed with superb artwork (paintings, photographs and drawings), this is one of those books that is not only highly informative, but (just like all the books from our Iowa-based Dynamic Duo) it's written in an entertaining and atmospheric style that captures the imagination of the reader from page-one, and holds their attention throughout.

With that said, what about the content? Well, now we get to the really good stuff. Whether you're a Ufological veteran or a relative newcomer to the scene, Real Aliens will serve as a perfect resource tool - one from which you'll (a) learn a great deal about the nature of the UFO puzzle, (b) gain new insights and appreciations of cases old and recent, and (c) come to realize the sheer enormity and multifaceted nature of the phenomenon.

The book is split into specific sections, which I particular enjoyed, as it allows the reader to dip into whichever area they choose to first, and doing so doesn't affect one's ability to understand and appreciate the data under scrutiny either.

So, we get sections on the many and varied types of entity that have been reported over the decades, including, of course, those pesky, black-eyed dwarfs: the Grays. Detailing intriguing and, sometimes, harrowing data, as well as the possibility that the Grays may well be time-surfers, this is an excellent section that gets to the heart of the agenda of the pasty, skinny abductors from beyond.

Those long-haired hippie-like E.T.'s that came tumbling out of the deserts of California, Arizona and Nevada in the early-1950s - the Nordic Space Brothers - are also the subject of an excellent chapter that provides a very good, solid account of this particularly engaging (to me anyway) aspect of the UFO issue. Who are the Nordics? Are they friends? Messengers? Deceptive entities with devious agendas? You know what to do to get those answers: buy the book!

Our fearless authors also take another very welcome blast into the past: in search of hairy humanoids, such as those diminutive types that popped up in the early '50s, and, of course, the world's most famous hair-covered man-beast: Bigfoot. I've said it before, but that won't stop me saying it again: Bigfoot is not just weird and elusive. Rather, Bigfoot is just too damn weird and elusive! And Brad and Sherry make this amply clear in Real Aliens, by chronicling a number of significant cases that push Bigfoot into distinctly Fortean territories.

I was very pleased to see a whole chapter devoted to one of those ufological beasts that doesn't usually get the attention it deserves, and as a result, often languishes in somewhat of a degree of enigmatic obscurity: the Praying Mantis. Insect-like, slightly ominous (and almost echoing imagery of the classic 1950s movie, Them!), one gets the feeling from reading this particular chapter that these entities (whatever their origins) play a substantial, and under-appreciated role in the non-human agenda.

And there are further chapters on the other-world critters too, including the more-than-ominous Reptilians, and robotic types reminiscent of Gort from The Day the Earth Stood Still (I mean the 1951 original; not the recent remake).

Moving on from specifically the alien entities themselves: if you're into stories of underground bases, underwater installations, and cavernous abodes of a type that would have had Richard Shaver and Ray Palmer foaming at the mouth, you're in for a treat. Have beings from other realms of existence secretly established outposts on (and under) our world? Do they secretly move among us, at night, after surfacing from their darkened abodes? Might some of these creatures represent the last vestiges of a very ancient race of terrestrial - rather than extraterrestrial - origins? You'll find a great deal of food for thought on these very issues in this particular chapter.

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to have sex with a blistering hot, Barbarella-style space-babe? Go on, admit it: of course you have! After all, who could say no to Truman Bethurum's flirty and curvy Aura Rhanes?

Certainly, the most famous of all such cases - described in detail in Real Aliens - is that of a certain Antonio Villas Boas of Brazil, whose October 1957 encounter with an attractive chick of the cosmic kind, is now near-legendary. But, as the Steiger's correctly note, some such cases seem downright malevolent, and appear to demonstrate characteristics suggestive of encounters with incubus and succubi, rather than with flesh-and-blood E.T.'s. So, after reading this chapter, you might want to be very careful with respect to what you wish for...

Kind of on a similar path, the highly controversial issue of alien-human hybrids is also given the Steiger treatment. To many, this issue is all indicative of a clandestine, genetic program - and maybe one that has a disturbing agenda. Namely: to infiltrate our society with human-looking aliens. Sleepers, in other words. I was, however, pleased to see that Brad and Sherry note the deep and undeniable parallels between alien abduction, hybrids and kidnapped babies, and the centuries old stories of people who claimed to have met the fairy-folk. Are we dealing with real E.T.'s? Or is this a presently unfathomable puzzle that, depending on the culture, the people and the time-frame, manifests in a multiplicity of forms: extraterrestrials, fairies, goblins, Djinns, etc, etc? All in all, this is a very good section of Real Aliens that demonstrates one of the weirder aspects of the entire phenomenon.

Certainly, in my opinion, the most fascinating chapter is that titled Aliens: Deceivers or Deliverers? This one gets to the very crux of the saucer enigma, and demonstrates (a) the undeniable fact that just because some entity, or disembodied voice, claims to have alien origins, it may be pure folly to take it at its word, and (b) the notable crossovers and parallels between messages from alleged aliens and those communications secured via psychic means. Friendly entities from far away, or our ultimate nightmare manifesting in kindly, camouflaged form? I hope the former; however, I often suspect it's really the latter...

And, in summary, you'll also find a wealth of data in the packed pages of this book on the E.T. connection to religion (both in times-past and times-present); astronaut encounters with UFOs; an absolutely classic early Man in Black experience; connections between the Nazis, UFOs, and the occult realm; presidential knowledge of UFOs; and a great deal more.

Real Aliens is a highly enjoyable, deeply absorbing, and immensely informative title that - by covering so much wide and varied territory - makes it abundantly clear that there is a very real UFO presence in our world. And it's one that has been interacting with us for a very, very long time - and often at a deeply personal level, too. But, it's also a phenomenon that clearly has the upper-hand. Sometimes it exhibits friendliness, at other times it displays Trickster-style characteristics, and on more than a few occasions it's downright malevolent and malignant.

So, in summary with respect to Real Aliens, what can I say but: A definitive encyclopedia of the extraterrestrial variety!

Real Aliens, Space Beings, and Creatures from Other Worlds

You’ve read the stories, seen the tv shows and heard the rumors, though it never seems to be enough. Are aliens invading, have they already or is our historical understanding all an elaborate cover up that the powers don’t want us knowing? Yunno, I cant help but think that as fantastical and fictitious as X-files presented itself, it may have been based on truth rather than the inner workings of creative minds. Well, as the Steigers bring us another tasty entry into the alien hall of fame, there is plenty here for everybody to pick from.

In fact, what I liked best about the book is that it’s not your usual lethargic drawn out page turner but rather short reports and quips from a variety of places and sources that give us alot in little bits. My first impression was how easy I found it to just flip forward or back to the desired sections of interest. Whether it’s the grays, the lizard folk, the greens, the hybrids or just strange places both on and off earth….your sure to find some satisfaction in your exploration here.

I tend to gravitate to the cover-ups and the “what’s-been-going-on” reports that focus on government involvement and the “come-forward-witnesses” needing to get things off their chests. As we move past these strange and wild tales of presumed non-fiction, we learn about a race or “races” who by careful collaboration have kept the secrets of the worlds from us. If this is true and very well could be, what are we being protected from?…and why?

Are we to believe in TV-like stories that sound much like the stuff we watch for relaxation………maybe so. The Steigers and friends don’t mess around. They have spent the time it needs to bring forward these isolated incidents large or small. While some of the chapters focus more on the beings themselves other tackle the bigger picture announcements. The kind that are looming overhead!

“Real Aliens” tackles a number of short reports on secret lairs, sightings and abduction stories that all point to some level of interaction or proof of alien life forms. What is more disturbing is the government level involvement hinted at revealed as going on for quite some time. We’ll read about ties to the lost Atlantis, about underground bases, about levels deep, about sectors dedicated to experimentation and several more unexplained reportings that span back into the 40′s and 60′s.

Is 2012 the year that we make contact? Has the aliens been guiding our hands in the evolution chain or are we all just some form of an elaborate experiment that has come almost full circle? The facts are too intriguing not to raise a few eyebrows and wonder if the time has come for full revelation. The Steigers do a bang up job on not only presenting the short tidbits, but doing so in a way that seem to draw reader interest from page to page. I think this fact alone keeps me coming back to these books and flipping thru.. It sure is a lot to consume but don’t say they never told us so….. killer stuff for UFO fans and unexplained materials alike.

APRIL ARABIA WORKING - SOME ACCOUNTS

THE ARABIA WORKING ON EASTER SUNDAY (BY COINCIDENCE)

A large turn out at Arabia brought us together for a Workshop (to be posted as a podcast…stay tuned!), extensive points Workings (see below) and a very powerful Healing Circle, so large we had to stand in a circle around Tau Ishaviva in the center, who was ailing (see below also) but who braved the climb and heat of the day anyway. Here is an extract of Tau AHA’s account of receiving the (many) remaing points of the known points chauds in out 97 degree system.

“I want to write a little before it leaves me about my experience Sunday with the points. I received about 80 points from +D a +Isha. The receiving of the points itself was very interesting because I had so many done by two people with very different styles. It was a good opportunity to really experience how this all works. The first thing that I noticed that +Isha seemed to take an almost exclusive energy approach to it. With her I felt an instant jolt then a slow build up of energy at each point. Then the point would activate and the energy would seem to disperse. With +D it was a more physical activation/stimulation of the point which seemed to cause a receptivity to the energy. So it was a physical pressure followed by a burst of energy as the point awoke. The second thing of note is the loss of time that I seemed to experience. I know that the process of activating all the points took a great deal of time only because of when we started and what time it was when we went down the mountain. It only felt like about 10 minutes to me and there are whole sets of points that I have no recollection of being activated however, I could feel later that they were. After I felt definite shifts in consciousness as the points would find each other and build networks. This manifested in time and space perception issues and sudden shifts in balance. Once this passed I felt (and am still feeling) massive amounts of heat in certain parts of my body. It started on my crown. Then my hands and now my feet almost as though it is working its way back down my body. When I say massive amounts, I mean it is uncomfortable to were shoes because of the heat flying out of my feet today. I will try to make more notes as I experience things. “

Tau AHA

When we formed our Healing Circle, Tau Ishaviva was in the center. Here is an extract of her account.

“I woke up that morning not feeling well, the muscles in my neck,
sholders, and chest, above my breasts, were hurting and making it a
bit painful to take a deep breath. I took some Tylenol and decided to
go anyway, hell, I often feel like crap.

I sat in the center of the healing circle, alone, while the others
raised energy with the Om Hum Trom Re Ah (Allen, I can't remember how
to spell it?). I felt the energy being generated. I have issues with
accepting things so I was focusing on the people that were mentioned
who need healing energy and distibuting it to them. Even though I did
that, after the circle was done I did feel much improved, for a while.

I gave a reading of a text I enjoy. Here is what I read:

"Dancing Into Truth"

I am Spirit on Earth and I dedicate myself to channeling Love and
Truth into my life. I am a source of Light in the living body of
creation, ever growing in unity with all, as the universe and I flow
harmoniously in change together.

Love is my nature, Truth is my will. The essential masculine and
feminine principles as the God and the Goddess in all their forms
dwell within me. The ecstacy of their intertwining is the divine spark
of life into my deepest nature.

I am a wild child, a responsible adult, and a wise elder. I encompass
within myself the wealth of human experience. I welcome the fullness
of life with its joy and sorrow, as I work and play. Accepting into
memory all suppressed experiences, I release them with Love and
Forgiveness.

I Love as I Will and strive to do my True Will. The Truth of my
experience and purity of my heart enable me to govern myself. I share
a vision with all people, building a world based on Freedom and
Cooperation.

The universe flows through me and I use this Power to Create, Nurture,
and Heal. My love embraces violence and pain, and transmutes them into
peace and inner growth. I respect the autonomy of each person and
choose not to interfere either by pity or harm.

I create my own reality with the way I respond to my experiences. My
Spiritual nature guides my ego and shapes all I think, feel, and say.
I lovingly and willingly surrender to the beauty and perfection of all

I feel my connection with all facets of this universe - the Earth, the
water, the sky, plants, animals, spirits and other beings. The Divine

Then I helped +Dositheos give points to Tau AHA so I'll talk about
what I feel when I give points. I don't SEE them as some people do. I
can feel them, once I've placed my thumbs on the location, sometimes
moving it around a bit to get the exact place. So, after consulting
the printed chart of the points, I look on the person and figure out
where they should be, then I put my thumb there (sometimes between my
two fingers, if it feels practicle, other times not for legistics
sake) and feel for the point. Then I open up my crown chakra and let
the universal energy flow down into me, I direct it to the ground to
mingle with earth energy and then back up my body, through my heart
chakra, down my arms and out my thumb into the point. I just open up
and let it happen, it's all good. : )

I suppose if any interpretation of the energy is done by me it's
probably of the compassion type cause that's my thing. : )

I didn't feel drained because I was letting the universal energy flow
through me instead of using my own.

As we started getting ready to leave for dinner though I think the
effects of the healing were beginning to wear. I got REALLY hungry.
The next day I woke up sick, fever and all. I really don't think it
had anything to do with giving the points, it was coming on before
that. I was hoping that I hadn't transmitted anything of my illness to
Tau AHA by giving him points. Maybe, since he said he had a clearing
out of his body on, I think that was Tuesday?, two days later. Maybe
that was him throwing off whatever I had. Glad you didn't get sick Tau
AHA.

Report On The Signing Ceremony

On March 25 2011 a synod of bishops and other free illuminists gathered in Acworth GA USA to participate in a signing ceremony for nearly forty lodge charters, certificates of consecration and other documents actualized the previous Summer, during a fantastic week of Manifesting the Great Work in Prague in the week of July 12, 2010. Organized by Tau Mansukh and Tau Peter and others, the signing ceremony was the crown on those historic events for free illuminism, attended by people from half a dozen nations.

Our gathering in March 2011 for the signing included an impromptu ordination of an Exorcist, our brother and Facilitator of The Temple of the Black Sun Tau Caleb, and Tau Dositheos of Ormus Lodgewas present, along with Bishops Max (recently consecrated on Arabia), Tau Aron, Tau Roger and some old and honored guests and magi.

Work was conducted during Tau Allen Greenfield (TAG) visit of Prague during this summer – 12^th to 19^thof July.

The goals of this work were:

1. To consecrate members of Czech and other European groups of congregational illuminists into all Episcopal and Gnostic successions that TAG holds.

2. To initiate members of Czech and other European groups of congregational illuminists into Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis and Misraim

Given time frame also provided a lot of opportunities to discuss various topics related not only to esoteric research and Episcopal and Gnostic work but also to principles upon which congregational illuminism is built and more general topics.

As consequence of provided consecrations and initiations several groups formed, each of them focusing on specific area of practice. All groups are already in operation and having positive results.

VERNAL EQUINOX FREE ILLUMINIST GATHERING ON ARABIA MOUNTAIN

A brief report on the events on Arabia Mountain at the Vernal Equinox, March 20 2011
The essentials--- The long anticipated Consecration of now-bishop Brother (now Tau) Max was at long-last manifested!. I performed the consecration, with Tau Dositheos and Tau Indigo assisting. We also did point Work as request, conducted a powerful and spirited healing circle, and signed and witnessed two new Charters, that of XM360 Lodge (familiar to many of our Facebook friends) and our first Lodge in Japan. We started out with a core group on the March wind-swept Consecration Rock on Arabia Mt, met up with others in the Nature Preserve, and still others at our traditional Indian banquet which followed. Much accomplished, much to be done. Next Free Illuminist event on Arabia Mountain is scheduled for April 24, 2011.

Gyallu is the current national anthem of Tibet. The anthem focuses on the radiance of Buddha.^[1] The words were written by Trijang Rinpoche around 1950 but it is unclear exactly when Tibet's anthem was first used, either while the country was still under the control of the Dalai Lama's administration or first adopted by the government in exile after the entrance of The People's Liberation Army into the country..

The earliest report of an anthem (presumably this one) is from the period of 1949 to 1950 (when the country was already facing the threat of a Chinese invasion), introduced under reforms set in place to strengthen patriotic feelings of the Tibetan people. Another report states that the anthem was presented to the 14th Dalai Lama in 1960, after he went into exile.

Regardless of the adoption date, the melody is said to be based on a very old piece of Tibetan sacred music, and the lyrics are by the Dalai Lama's tutor, Trijang Rinpoche. It has been used by Tibetans in exile ever since the introduction of the anthem but the Chinese Communist government strictly forbids playing it within Tibet.

Shuttle Discovery sets out on last voyage

By Jonathan Amos Science correspondent, BBC News The US shuttle Discovery has launched from the Kennedy Space Center for the last time. The orbiter roared into a bright blue Florida sky, leaving the pad at 1653 local time (2153 GMT).Its 11-day mission will see it deliver a new store room and a sophisticated humanoid robot to the International Space Station (ISS). Only two further flights remain by Endeavour and Atlantis, which Nasa is trying to see concluded this year.The orbiter fleet is then expected to retire to museums.

As usual, huge crowds had gathered on all the approach roads leading to the Nasa facility and on the beaches along Florida's Space Coast - everyone wanting to witness a piece of history.

They all had to wait a little longer than expected - the final countdown was delayed by three minutes as a problem was fixed with the computer system that tracks the shuttle to orbit.

As soon as the issue was resolved, ground controllers restarted the clock and called out to Discovery's crew: "Enjoy the ride". Shuttle Commander Steve Lindsey replied: "We appreciate all your work; and for those watching, get ready to witness the majesty and the power of Discovery as she lifts off one final time."

Discovery is regarded as the "leader of the fleet", and was entrusted with both return-to-flight missions following the Challenger and Columbia accidents.

DISCOVERY: FLEET LEADER

It is named after various historic vessels, including James Cook's 18th Century explorer
Discovery was the first spacecraft to retrieve a satellite and bring it back to Earth
It has completed more missions than any other vehicle in the space shuttle fleet
The shuttle visited both the Russian Mir station and the International Space Station
It carried the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit and made two servicing missions
Before Thursday's lift-off its total in-orbit time: 352 days; and number of orbits: 5,628

First launched in 1984, this is its 39th outing. When it lands back on Earth in nearly two weeks' time it will have covered a cumulative career distance of 230 million km (143 million miles). That's further than the distance from the Earth to the Sun (149 million km).

Once the shuttles are retired, the plan is for US astronauts to fly to the space station on Russian Soyuz rockets until perhaps the middle of the decade.

A number of American companies then hope to be in a position to sell launch services to Nasa on a range of new vehicles.

The intention is that the agency should put its efforts into leading the development of a large rocket - known as the Space Launch System - that can send astronauts beyond the space station to destinations such as asteroids.

Congress has set out the broad capabilities it expects to see in this rocket and has given a deadline of 2016 for its introduction. However, Nasa has said it cannot deliver such a vehicle in the time and with the budget the politicians have specified.

R2 will be the first humanoid robot in space. It is designed to show how dexterous robots cope in a weightless environment
After upgrades and advancements, Nasa hopes R2 can venture outside the space station to help astronauts on spacewalkers
The expectation is that R2-like robots could one day go into orbit to service communications and scientific satellites
Similar robots might be sent on deep space missions, where they would experience more extreme thermal and radiation conditions
Humanoid robots could also help set up Mars camps before astronauts arrive, and maintain the surface experiments after they leave

As well as Steve Lindsey, Discovery's crew includes Eric Boe as the pilot. They are joined by mission specialists Alvin Drew, Michael Barratt, Nicole Stott and Steve Bowen. Bowen was called in late to replace crewman Tim Kopra who was injured in a bicycle accident last month.

A key task will be to deliver the Italian-built logistics module known as Leonardo. The module, which is used as a packing box for supplies in the orbiter's payload bay, would normally return to Earth with every shuttle mission, but for Discovery's flight it will be left on station to provide extra storage space.

Leonardo needed reinforcement if it was to be permanently left at the ISS

Leonardo's retention on the ISS represents yet another remarkable achievement for Thales Alenia Space in Turin, which has produced most of the pressurised volume, or living space, on the US side of the platform. Appropriately, Italian and European Space Agency astronaut Paolo Nespoli will be onboard the station to help fit Leonardo into place on the Unity connecting node.

There has been particular interest in a "passenger" being carried up in Leonardo. This is Robonaut 2, or R2, the first human-like robot in space.

R2 is the product of 15 years' research in Nasa and General Motors.

In its current guise, the robot is just a head, arms, and a torso mounted on a pedestal. But the plan eventually is to give R2 some legs to let it move around the station. And in a couple of years, it will also get a body upgrade that should significantly advance its capabilities.

The expectation is that before the decade is out, this robot will be clambering about on the outside of the space station, assisting astronauts on spacewalks. Inside the station, R2 is likely to take on many mundane tasks such as cleaning.

Discovery should arrive at the ISS on Saturday. The first of two spacewalks to carry out maintenance tasks on the exterior of the platform should occur on day five of the mission.

Shuttle Endeavour is expected to fly to the station in April. Atlantis will go no earlier than June.

Robonaut 2

In the current iteration of Robonaut, Robonaut 2 or R2, NASA and General Motors are working together with assistance from Oceaneering Space Systems engineers to accelerate development of the next generation of robots and related technologies for use in

the automotive and aerospace industries. Robonaut 2 (R2) is a state of the art highly dexterous anthropomorphic robot. Like its predecessor Robonaut 1 (R1), R2 is capable of handling a wide range of EVA tools and interfaces, but R2 is a significant advancement over its predecessor. R2 is capable of speeds more than four times faster than R1, is more compact, is more dexterous, and includes a deeper and wider range of sensing. Advanced technology spans the entire R2 system and includes: optimized overlapping dual arm dexterous workspace, series elastic joint technology, extended finger and thumb travel, miniaturized 6-axis load cells, redundant force sensing, ultra-high speed joint controllers, extreme neck travel, and high resolution camera and IR systems. The dexterity of R2 allows it to use the same tools that astronauts currently use and removes the need for specialized tools just for robots.

One advantage of a humanoid design is that Robonaut can take over simple, repetitive, or especially dangerous tasks on places such as the International Space Station. Because R2 is approaching human dexterity, tasks such as changing out an air filter can be performed without modifications to the existing design.

Another way this might be beneficial is during a robotic precursor mission. R2 would bring one set of tools for the precursor mission, such as setup and geologic investigation. Not only does this improve efficiency in the types of tools, but also removes the need for specialized robotic connectors. Future missions could then supply a new set of tools and use the existing tools already on location.

XXIV. Love being much more than a mere sentiment between the sexes, it is plain that neither its ground-work, nature, or cryptic meaning, has hitherto in any land been thoroughly understood. I have for long, weary years studied it in many countries of the globe. Here and there I got — not a new idea of it, but suggestions which led me to investigate and explore. And now, in this, probably the last book book but one or two which I shall ever write, I desire, not to make a confession, for I am proud of the truths alone I delved for, and brought up from the zem — zem of mystery — but to make a statement and explanation. Very nearly all that I have given as Rosicrucianism originated in my soul, and scarce a single thought, only suggestions, have I borrowed from those who, in ages past, called themselves by that name — one which served me well as a vehicle wherein to take my mental treasures to a market, which gladly opened its doors to that name, but would, and did, slam to its portals in the face of the tawny student of Esoterics.

Precisely so was it with things purporting to be Ansairetic. I had merely read Lydde’s book, and got hold of a new name; and again mankind hurrahed for the wonderful Ansaireh, but incontinently turned up its nose at the supposed copyist. In proof of the truth of these statements, and of how I had to struggle, the world is challenged to find a line of my thought in the whole 4,000 books on Rosicrucianisrn; among the brethren of that Fraternity — and I know many such in various lands, and was, till I resigned the office, Grand Master of the only Temple of the Order on the globe; or in Ansairetic works, English, German, Sytiac or Arabic.

One night— it was in far-off Jerusalem or Bethlehem, I really forget which —I made love to, and was loved by, a dusky maiden of Arabic blood. I of her, and that experience, learned — not directly, but by suggestion—the fundamental principle of the White Magic of Love; subsequently I became affiliated with some dervishes and fakirs of whom, by suggestion still, I found the road to other knowledges; and of these devout practicioners of a simple, but sublime and holy magic, I obtained additional clues— little threads of suggestion, which, being persistently followed, led my soul into labyrinths of knowledge themselves did not even suspect the existence of. I became practical1y, what I was naturally — a mystic, and in time chief of the lofty brethren; taking the clues left by the masters, and pursuing them farther than they had ever been before; actually discovering the ELIXIR OF LIFE; the universal Solvent, or celestial Alkahest; the water of beauty and perpetual youth, and the philosopher’s stone, — all of which this book contains; but only findable by him or her who searches well. The thoughts which I gave to the world, that world paid me for, as it always has paid for benefits. But what of that? Justice is sure to be done me by and by.

I am induced to say thus much in order to disabuse the public mind relative to Rosicrucianism, which is but one of our outer doors—and which was not originated by Christian Rosencrux; but merely revived, and replanted in Europe by him subsequent to his return from oriental lands, whither, like myself and hundreds of others, he went for initiation.

The Rosicrucian system is, and never was other else than a door to the ineffable Grand Temple of Eulis. It was the trial chamber wherein men were tested as to their fitness for loftier things. And even Eulis, itself, is a triplicate of body, spirit, soul. There are some in the outer, a few in the inner crypt.

These, the facts concerning Rosicrucia and myself, are out at last. Now let us go on with the book.

Enthusiasts are the ambassadors of God. It is through such only that great truths reach the world, and that world takes exquisite pleasure in crucifying all such; and yet they will arise, proclaim their mission, deliver their message, establish new truths, and then march straight to Calvary or Patmos! In all ages there, have been men cut out after a different pattern from their contemporaries, and who, for that reason, had and have a different destiny to fulfill. “To be great, is to be misunderstood,” ay, and crucified time and again. Among all who have ever lived, none have worked harder, or accomplished more good for mankind than that class of men known in all time as Mystics, foremost among whom was, and is, that branch of them known as Hermetists, — men of mark; Pythagoreans, Rosicrucians, and lastly, the Brotherhood of Eulis, — all of whom were, and are, students of the same school.

When David G. Brown, of the city of New York, more recently connected with Bennett’s “Herald,” was, in Montreal, I believe, asked concerning the origin of the Great Society, or rather Fraternity, (the Rosicrucian branch, — but differing essentially from the branch of that august brotherhood represented by adepts in Europe, Asia, and myself and confreres in this country,—yet identical in spirit, so far as the general welfare of universal man is concerned), he responded as follows, save that he disguised certain names, which disguises I now throw off! — As one standing upon the beach by the sea, and gazing far off over the turbulent waters, finds the horizon lowering in the distance, and shutting out the land unseen that lies beyond; so we, standing upon the sands of time, and looking back over the sea of our past history, find there is a boundary beyond which the vision cannot extend, a point where many have written, ‘No more beyond!'

And, as the ocean casts up from its unfathomble depths wrecks of vessels lost, which float upon its surface, and are lost upon our shores, so sometimes, from the immeasurable gulf that has buried in its depths the secret of our origin, a waif drifting on the bosom of time finds its way to the limits of the historical epoch, and reveals us something of what was, and is lost. Then let us learn all that we may from these waifs. Let us wander upon these trackless shores of a silent sea, and bring, from its driftwood and wrecks all at may be gathered. Let us add all that may be added of our childhood’s glory to our manhood’s suffering, and our coming triumph. We will be proud that we are disciples of Hermes Trismegistus, that thrice-sealed Lord of Mind, — the Mystical Mal-Kiza-dek [Meichizadek] of Bible repute; but let us not forget to be proud that we are disciples of the viewless God. . . . Twine the laurel wreath for the victor, but add the cypress for the victim. . . . Let us go, then, to the land of romance and of dream, — the land of the Holy Byblus, and the Sacred Ganges. Standing upon their shores, our minds will revert, back in the dim ages, to the days of our childhood, and the birth of the mystical reign of Ahrimanes. We will behold in our mind’s eye a succession of kingdoms, like the succession of seasons, a rise and fall of dynasties, like the sowing and reaping of grain. We will count the number of patricians who live in idleness and luxury, and shudder at the multitude of plebeians who die in agony and want. Behold those monsters of selfishness and cruelty, whose insatiable appetite of ambition and pride, wealth and power, could not appease, and for whose maw the quivering flesh and trickling blood of a people became food. Here and there, we will find men struggling against oppression as we have struggled; people teaching virtue and charity as we have taught, — reviled and scorned as we have been. We will discover that others have borne our burdens who had no hope of receiving our reward; that knowledge is universal, and has no royal road; and that they were as wise in the wisdom of their generation, as we are in ours.

And now tread softly. We are entering the dark realm of the slumbering ages. The dust of a million years has gathered here, and no voice has awakened its echoes since the days when the Indian Bacchus consorted with the daughters of men.

We have left the land of the probable, and are journeying in the regions of the possible. The footprints here and there are of mortals, but of those who have beheld the hidden mysteries of Eulis, who are familiars of the Cabbala, who have raised the veil of Isis, and revealed the Chrishna, the — YAE or the A.A.

Behold in the distance, shining from the east as the sun from the sea, the unquenchable torch of her who is nameless; observe the stars that circle round her, as she kneels to write upon the sand. See the sheen of her golden hair, and the spotless white of her robes; catch the first strains of that wondrous philosophy, classic and pure, as they fall in wordless music from her lips; and remember how its infinite truth and marvellous beauty, have, in all the ages that are past, bound us together by an indissoluble bond of brotherhood, and leavened with our faith in the innate kindness of the human heart, taught us to sacrifice ourselves, that the peoples my advance.

They were fragments of this philosophy which we wore as a crown of glory on our natal morn, that were disseminated by our Master and his innumerable followers, and cast hither and thither upon the stream of time, were finally washed by successive waves of war and pilgrimage, to the shores of Egypt. It is of these the author of the “History of Civilization in England” speaks, as “forming one of the elements in the school of Alexandria, and whose subtle speculations, carried on in their own exquisite language, anticipated all the efforts of modern European metaphysics.”

They were fragments of this philosophy which, perverted by the strong individualities of Plato, Aristotle and Pythagoras, became alike the systems of their schools, the Portico, the Grove, and the Garden.

Melchizadek, or Hermes, was our first great master; but like many masters before and since, he lived when the “times were out of joint,” and the age was not attuned to symphonies of thought and feeling. He taught his rich philosophy to all, opened great hidden depths of thought to the public eye, explained the most subtle truths to barbarian ears, and— threw pearls to swine. And his success. He gathered round him his disciples, and looked beyond at their followers; they extended in every direction, as far as eye could reach, surging like the waves of the sea, when tossed by tempests,— and with all the deep undertones and mutterings of the ocean. Were all these his pupils? All these versed in the shoals and depths of reasoning? No. They were families, some member of whom believed an abstract philosophical truth, and all the rest believed the man.

They reduced the laws of nature to form a creed, and they made a golden calf of some special physical force, and fell down to worship it. They resolved, themselves, after their agitation, into their own natural element. That was all.
As a rustic, uninstructed in the principles, might with open-mouthed wonder watch the burning of coal, and endeavor to associate it with the inflation of a balloon, so Hermes, expecting only the preconceived consequences of his teaching, was awed by the immense bubble he had formed. As he comprehended the magnitude of his creation, and its now evident consequences, perhaps there arose in his mind that inevitable conclusion that from all his teachings and all his labor little would be accomplished. The great minds among his followers would be philosophers, but they would have been philosophers without him. The mass would be fanatics, as they had been fanatics before him. He had done only this — given a direction to their studies and speculations, given a name and method to their ignorance and madness. And all this scholasticism and philosophy, all this ignorance and madness, would be the new religion of India, would take the place forever of her first idolatry. Hold! It is not yet too late to retrieve, and by one of those rapid and eccentric movements in literature, which the great genius of Bonaparte was wont to receive in war, to change the whole features of the campaign. And I am so changing it! — I, the last Grand Master of the Order, prior to its final absorption into regnant, peerless EULIS!

So we received our heritage, and the soul of philosophy vanished from India and the world as a dream. The kernel was hidden, and the shell alone permitted to remain to excite the awe of past generations, and the wonder of ours. Ah! most noble Master, you have long since, like Her who came before you, passed forever among the shadows of the invisible, and the dark, but deathless realms, where our fathers have gone before us. But as the material form was indestructible, and lives forever in that land of blossom and of flowers, so that spiritual and ideal emanation shall, through all coming time, live in the minds of men, and never cease to be born anew, for Eulis’ nature is infinite and eternal!

How safely our secrets have been guarded, let each answer according to the progress he has made in mastering them. How little was abstracted by the Essenes, Gnostics and Batiniyeh, you all know.

For ten thousand years after Hermes, we lost no more, in our contact with all the various peoples of the world, than the electric elements we threw off in grasping their hands!

Though few in numbers, we guarded the great trust committed to our care with a never-ceasing vigilance. Every member was aware of its importance to the human race. Every member realized that the flowers gathered from the graves of dead years must be preserved as a wreath to crown the age to come. Amid the swarm of sects and societies that sprang to life in the East, surrounded by all the schools that flourished in the Golden Age of Greece, that little band of souls preserved their purity.

Secretly and silently they moved over the sands of time to the coming of the Nazarene . . . . . In the twilight that succeeds the crucifixion of Calvary we can see indistinctly the movements of individuals, and the banding of men. They seem to move with an uncertain purpose, and to have lost their old effetiveness. One, two, three, five hundred years roll by as one would count the hours to midnight. Then there is a bustle. Work is at hand. Into those dark ages that succeed, pass the mustering bands, and for a thousand years death at the stake, persecution and despair on the one hand, and the retribution of the Vehmgerichte and kindred associations, alone point out the position of the contestants, and the progress of the fight.

Then from his cradle in the Alps looms up Christian Rosencrux. Seizing all at a glance, the society is reorganized; no more to dream, but to work; no more to wait for the human race to accomplish its destiny, but to assist in its accomplishment; to offer her bosom to the unfortunate; to raise the fallen; to succor the oppressed; to interpose her form between the tyrant and the slave; to lead the van in the great fight. She has the gathered knowledge of her ages of student-life. She has the patience taught by centuries of adversity. She has the courage of the true and the beautiful; and, above all, she loves the peoples, and Paschal Beverly Randolph succeeded Rosencrux, as the legitimate Grand Master of Rosicrucia, and Hierarch of Eulis.

And now I would say one word in regard to contemporary societies. Many of them were organized with meritorious objects in the days gone by, but the state of things that gave them being has long since passed away. They presented a sad spectacle of having outlived their usefulness, and drag out a fitful existence of senseless ceremonies and abstract forms, from which the soul has long departed. A few should receive the tribute of respect due to that which is venerable and good, and Freemasonry should ever be associated with the broad mantle of its charity.

In the superstructures which have been created at different periods, upon these foundations, one will often observe a pillar, here or there, called the Rose Croix, or occasionally bear the mystic name Eulis, softly pronounced.

I was conversing with a gentleman whom I supposed to be a member of one of these “Chapters,” and he said, “The Rosy Cross is dead. We have, it is true, galvanized its skeleton into a transitory life, but the Rosy Cross of history is dead.” Dead! I cried. She lives! — lives with the rich blood of the South in her veins; with the vigor of the North in her constitution; with the clear brain of the temperate zone, the depth of thought of the Orient, the versatility of France, and earnestness of purposes and boldness of resolution of the New World; lives these three hundred years that you think her dead, as she lived the countless centuries before you thought her born; and may she never cease to have a fitting casket for her jewels, and remain a reflex of the glorious truth and beauty of the superlative wisdom, power and goodness.

So far well; but at last the world wants to know more of that wonderful fraternity, which, nameless at times for long centuries, blossomed a few centuries ago as Rosicrucia, but now has leaped to the fore-front of all the real reform movements of this wondefu1 age, and lo! the banner of peerless Eulis floats proudly—rock founded — on the breeze. We, the people of Eulis, be it known, are students of nature in her interior departments, and rejecting alike the coarse materialism of the ages, and the sham “philosophies” of the ages past and current, accept only that which forces conviction by its irresistible logic. Men who realize the existence of other worlds than this are not apt to give loose rein to passion; nor be content with fraud in any shape. We cannot take say-sos for facts, and therefore we reject much that appeals to others with the force of truth. We are ambitious to solve all possible mystery; we prefer one method to all other hyper-human agencies, knowing it to be infinitely preferable to all other modes of rapporting the occult and mysterious; and this book, and all others from the same pen, is but a very imperfect sketch or outline of the sublime philosophy of the Templars of EULIS. We know the enormous importance of the sexive principle; that a menstruating woman is an immense power if she but knew it! that a pregnant one holds the keys of eternal mystery in her hand, and that while thus she can make or mar any human fortune! We know the mystic act is one unhinging the gates alike, of heaven and of hell; and we know two semi-brainless people may, by an application of esoteric principles, stock the
world with mental giants. But where shall we find students? Are not all the people, nearly, the slaves of lust, place, gold? Well, we find one now and then; and we hail him or her as the Greeks hailed the sea— with excessive joy! Thalatta! Thalatta! They are not multitudinous now, but will be in the good time coming.
